Over the weekend last Friday, NAFA came alive with conversations, performances, and shared listening as we hosted Resonant Connections: 10 Years of the RMA Southeast Asia Chapter and Beyond, together with the Royal Musical Association’s Southeast Asia Chapter.
Over three days, scholars, performers, and educators from across the region and beyond gathered to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and reconnect with why practice, research, and teaching matter.
The conference opened with remarks by NAFA’s Vice‑President (Corporate Services), Mr Lye Yong Yong, and a keynote address by Professor Simon Keefe, President of the Royal Musical Association. This was followed by other talks, workshops, lecture‑recitals, masterclasses and performances. One highlight was a Piano Masterclass, where students received direct, practical insights from an international piano master, Professor Kenneth Hamilton.
As we marked 10 years of the RMA Southeast Asia Chapter, the weekend felt less like a milestone and more like a space where people genuinely wanted to be.
