The number 153 is associated with the geometric shape known as the Vesica Piscis or Mandorla. Archimedes, in his Measurement of a Circle, referred to this ratio (153/265), as constituting the "measure of the fish", this ratio being an imperfect representation of
1/3≈
0.57735
{\displaystyle 1/{\sqrt {3}}\approx 0.57735}.[1]

As a triangular number, 153 is the sum of the first 17 integers, and is also the sum of the first five positive factorials:

The reverence for stars and constellations is a common thread running through many ancient cultures, with Ursa Major being particularly significant. This constellation, known for its prominent asterism, the Big Dipper, has been a symbol and a guide for various civilizations throughout history.

🏛️ Ancient Egyptians

The ancient Egyptians held the stars in high regard, incorporating them into their mythology, religion, and architecture. Ursa Major, known to them as "The Bull's Thigh," was of particular importance. The constellation was associated with Osiris, the god of the afterlife. The temples and pyramids were often aligned with the stars, and the Great Pyramid of Giza is an example where its sides are closely aligned with the cardinal points. It is believed that certain temples were constructed to face the axis of stars in Ursa Major, thus integrating their reverence for the stars into their monumental architecture. This alignment allowed the Egyptians to track the movements of the stars and hold religious ceremonies at significant times of the year.

🔮Ancient China

In ancient China, Ursa Major played a crucial role in metaphysical calculations and was integral to various practices. The seven stars of the Big Dipper were seen as celestial deities and formed the basis of numerous mystical systems including:

Feng Shui: The placement and orientation of buildings and objects were influenced by the positions of the stars, with the Big Dipper guiding the practice to harness positive energy.

Qi Wei Dou Shu: This form of Chinese astrology uses the stars of Ursa Major to determine personal destiny and fate.

Ba Zi (Four Pillars of Destiny): This divination system uses the stars to analyze a person's fate and fortune based on their birth details.

Qi Men Dun Jia: An ancient form of divination and strategy, this practice used the Big Dipper for forecasting and decision-making in warfare and other critical endeavors.

Weaving is a great project for kids 6 and above! In fact I gave a practice weave for my 3 year daughter for her to get used to the motion of weaving through the sections, a great activity of focus and concentration for an artistic activity. If you do not want to get a weaving loom, 2 sticks and some yarn will do the same.
