Benefits of Art Education
Enrolling your child to an art school has numerous benefits to their personal life and future career. But what specifically does arts can actually do to your child? Here are seven (7) reasons why art is essential to children and to their brain development:
Art encourages creativity and innovation. Art activities such as drawing and painting help children to unleash their imagination and to think out of the box. Colors, shapes and visual images help nurture a child’s creativity which will also help in the process of thinking new possibilities of things and in further innovation.
Art helps develop fine motor skills. Kids use their hands and fingers very often and make different motions and strokes that help them develop fine motor skills. Art activities that involve music and dancing also improve other motor skills such as agility balance. Engaging kids in art activities give them opportunities to become both physically and mentally active.
Art boosts confidence and self-esteem. Arts give children opportunities to express their personal feelings and ideas that make them identify their capabilities. The discovery and awareness of such abilities help them believe and take pride in what they can do, thus making them more confident about who they are. Art gives children a sense of accomplishment. Kids who are more inclined to arts are known to have better focus and attention and are also happier.
Art creates neural connections. When a child creates an art, his/her brain fires away to think of ideas and result in inventiveness. You can just imagine the expression kids make whenever they discover and try out something fun and new!
Art improves academic performance. Arts doesn’t just enhance creativity in kids but it also makes them smarter! Studies have shown that developing artistic skills over time can turn into better academic outcomes in subjects such as writing, literacy, mathematics, and science.
Art enhances decision making and problem-solving abilities. Kids learn how to make decisions on their own, even in small and simple things like choosing a color to use in a drawing or what materials to use in a solar system diorama.
A child’s mind is stretched as he/she explores new ideas, innovations, and possibilities for a better outcome.
Art promotes social skills. Through arts, kids can connect and spend a fun and meaningful time with other kids. This helps them to exercise social skills and become more aware of the different personalities and attitudes of people.
Art activities are a great way to encourage kids to express themselves and build relationships with others. Kids are naturally curious and seeing other kid’s work will always make them speak out and express what they have in mind.
