🎓🦢 Gaining admission to Oxford is not the result of a perfect formula - and the most prepared candidates are rarely the most polished ones. Oxford and Cambridge admissions tutors are not evaluating what you know, they are evaluating how you think when you encounter something you do not. The tutorial system that defines Oxford and Cambridge demands students who can engage with unfamiliar ideas, build arguments in real time, and remain intellectually open under pressure. That quality cannot be rehearsed overnight.
Khush Vardhan Saraf is a Senior Admissions Consultant at Prep Zone Academy and an Oxford admit. In this article, he offers a first-hand account of the interview process, what tutors are genuinely assessing, and what distinguishes the candidates who receive offers from those who do not.
If you are a student or a parent who is serious about Oxford or Cambridge, this is the most candid and informed perspective on that process you will find. Read the full article here ⬇️

🏥 The competition for admission to NUS and NTU Medicine programmes is currently at an all-time high. Many students wish they had realised sooner how crucial academic records are. Good grades form an essential foundation for any application; they are non-negotiable!
After working with over 100 applicants in the recent cycle, Siddharth Mohan Roy - Prep Zone’s Medical School Admissions Consultant, has identified specific patterns that differentiate successful candidates from the rest. Applicants generally fall into two categories: those who gravitated towards medicine after achieving strong academic results, and those who had wanted medicine for a long time and built their profile with that goal in mind. Each group faces its own set of challenges to overcome.
In part 1 of this guide, Siddharth reveals effective strategies, misconceptions that led to missed opportunities, and how resilient applicants adapted to unexpected challenges. Whether you are a JC student, a concerned parent, or a reapplicant, these ground-level observations will change how you approach the next cycle.

🏛️💉 Gaining admission to medical school requires a strategic, multi-year plan with careful decisions. In Singapore, the rigorous timeline gives minimal room for mistakes. It's a marathon, not a sprint, requiring early preparation for exams and involvement in healthcare experiences. Your ability to showcase yourself as an excellent student and compassionate future clinician is crucial for success.
Whether targeting NUS Yong Loo Lin, NTU Lee Kong Chian, or esteemed overseas institutions in the UK and Australia, your application must present a cohesive narrative of commitment. A general desire to "help people" is no longer a differentiator. To stand out, you must provide evidence of your suitability through measurable community impact and a nuanced understanding of medical ethics.
Reviewing your milestones with deliberate intention is critical to securing your place in a competitive cohort. The updated 2026 Prep Zone guide covers the entire application process, from academic prerequisites and exams to personal statements and interviews, providing essential knowledge and confidence. 🩺 If you’re applying for Medicine or Dentistry, it's crucial to understand the new UCAT 2025 statistics to stay competitive. With the removal of Abstract Reasoning, the total score has decreased from 3600 to 2700, allowing candidates to focus more intensely on the remaining subtests.
This shift, paired with improving candidate numbers and mean scores, has led to consistently higher decile rankings. As a result, students needed a higher score in 2025 (e.g., 2220 for the 9th decile) to achieve the same ranking as in 2024. A score that was 'safe' last year is only 'competitive' now. Additionally, there is a positive trend in the Situational Judgement Test, with more students reaching the top rank (Band 1) and fewer students falling into the lowest rank (Band 4).
