It was a week filled with excitement as SGS hosted students and teachers from Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri (STPRI), Brunei, for the Inaugural School Twinning Programme in May. π Over five enriching days, our Brunei friends journeyed with SGS buddies to experience school life in Singapore, including hands-on Applied Learning Modules in Interior Design, Forensic Science, Early Childhood Education, and Business & Entrepreneurship. The week was filled with wonderful cultural exchanges, from a traditional kompang welcome and a gulingtangan performance by STPRI students, to a communal Nasi Ambeng meal and Teh Tarik-making session at Kampong Glam, whilst exploring iconic Singapore landmarks. We are grateful for the friendships forged and memories made and we look forward to many more years of meaningful ties between SGS and STPRI! π

Our curious Computing & Robotics students attended the {build} Hackathon finale at GovTech to see what happens when GovTechies turn everyday problems into real solutions.
They walked through the showcase, talked to teams, and saw working prototypes built over 6 weeks - from problem statement to pitch-ready product. What stood out for them?
β
Solutions that actually have a path to production
β
Cross-functional teams with designers, engineers, and product folks
β
A focus on citizen pain points, not just cool tech
It was a behind-the-scenes look at how GovTech works to improve our quality of life. We thank GovTech (special thanks to CSR Council and Hackathon organisers) for this learning opportunity. Our students left with plenty of ideas, and definitely some inspiration to join next time!

Term 2 is leadership renewal season and we witnessed the investiture ceremonies of our Class Committee, CCA Leaders, and Student Councillors. We took time to appreciate the contributions of our outgoing Sec 4 student leaders and cheered on the new Sec 1-3 student leaders as they affirmed their commitment for this new term. May we be reminded that true leadership goes beyond mere titles β so that we may always Lead with Heart as we serve in our home, school, and community!

π Learning Beyond the Classroom:
Exploring Diplomacy in a Changing World
SGS had the pleasure of hosting His Excellency Peter Storer, Ambassador of Austria to Singapore, for an engaging and insightful talk on international diplomacy.
The session brought Social Studies concepts to life, as students deepened their understanding of diplomacy and international relations. Through the talk, interactive quiz, and Q&A session, they explored how nations built bridges, and how countries work together - in wide-ranging areas including trade, culture, and global initiatives - to bring about better lives for their people. Students were better able to appreciate the importance of respect, cooperation, and communication in shaping a more connected and harmonious world.

This yearβs S1 Humanities-in-Action Challenge, co-organised by SGS and AMKSS, brought together students from S1 cluster schools and beyond, for an afternoon of real-world Humanities learning, where students applied their knowledge of History, Geography, and Social Studies, critically and inventively, whilst collaborating with peers from other schools.
As they reflected on how Shared Stories could inspire a Shared Future, participants rose to the challenge by designing and presenting their AI-generated blueprints for a 'We-First' Singapore.
