Our Bunka students recently met students from Meijo University for a language exchange at Madlygood Japanese Cafe! ☕️🌸

It was a chance to practise the Japanese we’ve been learning, help our new friends with English, learn about each other’s cultures and, most importantly… Just enjoy talking together! 🇯🇵🤝🇸🇬

Because sometimes, the best way to learn a language is simply to use it. 💬✨

We recently came together for our Tanabata Watercolour Workshop, where everyone brought their own interpretation of 七夕（たなばた） to life — one brushstroke at a time. 🌌

What made the session even more special was hearing the stories and inspiration behind each artwork. 💭💗

🇯🇵 **Can a Singaporean really become fluent in Japanese?**

👘 Yukata or Kimono?

Many visitors to Japan use these two words interchangeably—but they're actually quite different!

A yukata (浴衣) is a light, casual cotton garment, often worn during summer festivals, fireworks displays, or while staying at a ryokan.

A kimono (着物), on the other hand, is more formal and can be worn throughout the year for weddings, tea ceremonies, and other special occasions.

Knowing the difference isn't just useful—it helps you appreciate Japanese culture on a deeper level. 🇯🇵

At Bunka, we believe learning Japanese goes beyond vocabulary and grammar. Understanding traditions like these helps you experience Japan with greater confidence and respect.
