The Hong Kong Finals dream β aspiration hook with skills grounding
Imagine your child, August 2026, representing Singapore at an international mathematics final in Hong Kong.
Not just any competition β one that tests both mathematical fluency AND Olympiad-level reasoning.
That's the destination GMEC 2026 can lead to.
But the journey starts here β with the Preliminary Round on 27 May 2026.
Here's what makes GMEC different from most competitions your child may have sat:
πΈ It's genuinely 2-in-1 β not two competitions stapled together, but one experience that develops and assesses two complementary skill sets.
πΈ The Math paper develops precision, speed, and numerical confidence.
πΈ The Math Olympiad paper develops exactly the non-routine thinking that top secondary schools, IP programmes, and university scholarship panels are looking for.
πΈ Win Gold, Silver, or Bronze and you're invited to the GMEC Finals in Hong Kong, Aug 13β19, 2026.
Practical details:

Competition as feedback tool β what GMEC reveals about your child
Here's something I tell every parent before a competition:
`Don't just look at the score. Look at where the score breaks down.`
A child who scores 180/200 on Math but 90/200 on Olympiad is telling you something important.
So is the child who reverses that pattern.
And the child who scores evenly across both? That's a student ready for the next level of challenge.
GMEC 2026 is one of the most diagnostic competitions available to Singapore students because it separates these two modes of mathematical thinking β and gives your child a medal for each.
What you get from GMEC:
π A clear view of your child's computation strength
π A clear view of their logical reasoning ability
π
Awards in BOTH categories β independently assessed
βοΈ Pathway to Hong Kong Finals if they win Gold, Silver, or Bronze
Open to Kindergarten through Grade 13. Online. On a public holiday (27 May 2026).

The 2 Types of 'Smart;'
Two students walk into the same exam.
Student A finishes fast. Every calculation correct. Full marks on the arithmetic.
Student B takes longer. Makes one calculation error. But solves a problem Student A never attempts.
Who is the 'better' maths student?
The truth is β they're differently skilled. And both sets of skills matter enormously in the real world.
That's the insight behind GMEC β the Global Mathematics Elite Competition & Olympiad 2026.
It's the only competition that gives your child TWO awards in ONE sitting:
π One for Mathematical Computation (accuracy, speed, number sense)
𧩠One for Mathematical Olympiad Thinking (logic, proof, creative reasoning)
Most competitions test only one dimension. GMEC tests both β because both predict success in STEM, finance, engineering, and beyond.
Key details:

I remember one student a couple of years back , let's just call him - Wei Jie and he used to say: `Maths is maths lah. Why does it matter how you think about it?`
Then he sat for his first Math Olympiad paper.
He could calculate.
But he couldn't construct.
He knew the answer β he just couldn't find the path.
That gap between knowing and reasoning?
That's exactly what GMEC 2026 is designed to reveal β and develop.
π Global Mathematics Elite Competition & Olympiad 2026
Two awards. One competition. A complete picture of your child's mathematical ability.
π Math Paper β tests numerical fluency and accuracy
π· Math Olympiad Paper β tests logical reasoning and creative problem-solving
Both matter. Both are assessed. Both are rewarded.
Competition Format:
β
40 questions total (20 Math + 20 Olympiad)

I want to talk about something that broke my heart a little this week.
I have been doing this long enough to know that results are not guaranteed.
But there is a specific kind of hurt that comes when a student has done everything right β showed up every single week, put in the work, trusted the process β and still walks away from competition day feeling like they let themselves down.
That one stings. Every single time.
Because I know what went into it. I was there every weekend. I saw the effort. I know how much it mattered to them and to their families.
And I keep asking myself β did we do enough? Not just the drilling, but the strategy. The confidence. The belief that when the paper is in front of you, you are ready.
This is why I do what I do differently.
We do not just teach Math. We prepare students for the specific competition they are sitting. The structure. The traps. The timing. The mental game.
Because your child deserves more than just practice. They deserve preparation that actually matches what competition day demands.
If your child has been working hard but not getting the results that reflect their effort β I want to talk to you.
Drop READY in the comments or message me directly.
And if life has you thinking about a property move this year too β drop MOVE. I have someone wonderful I would love to introduce you to. Sometimes the best thing I can do is connect you to the right person. π
To every student who showed up this season even when it was hard β I see you. Keep going.

Parents, letβs do the math that really matters.
The math problem of the NMOS exam itself: 35 complex, novel questions divided by 90 minutes.
That leaves your child with exactly 2 minutes and 34 seconds per problem. This competition isn't about being the absolute smartest; it's about being the most efficient strategist in the room. If your child spends 10 minutes on a difficult Q7, theyβve already compromised Q30-Q35.
In tomorrowβs webinar, we will break down the 'Skip and Return' model and other essential time-saving techniques that competitive Singaporean students use.
π Donβt let time run out on your child's confidence.

Are you preparing for the July 14th- National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore(NMOS) for the very first time? πΈπ¬ Itβs easy to assume that strong Primary 5 results translate automatically to NMOS success.
The reality is different. The difference isn't just difficulty; it's tempo. School exams test accuracy over time; NMOS tests accuracy at speed.
Join our strategy webinar to learn how to guide your child through the major cognitive shifts needed to handle 35 high-level problems in just 90 minutes.
