Happy (Belated) International Women’s Day!

Every also marks Nan Chiau’s Birthday! This year, the alumni was invited back to NCHS and NCPS to join in the festivities of Nan Chiau’s 79th Birthday.

This year, our alumni also presented something special. We had the opportunity to come across old school benches that were used in the ex-Kim Yam school hall at the current New Bahru.

Together with New Bahru, and a local vintage furniture company, the alumni had sponsored and gifted to both schools 5 sets each, as a token to remember our beginnings and roots.

NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, the upcoming 2023 AGM of the Nan Chiau Alumni Association will be convened and held virtually on 03 JUNE 2023 (Saturday) at 3:00 PM to transact the following business.

NB: The AGM will be conducted virtually. Members must first register to attend the virtual AGM.

As Ordinary Business
Resolution 1: To confirm minutes of AGM 2022
Resolution 2: To adopt the financials for year ended 2022
Resolution 3: To report activities in 2022

Important Information:
1. Registration for Virtual AGM: If you wish to attend the AGM, please register via this link: https://forms.gle/ugoHrcGuQGW53iX98.

Registration will open from 16 May 2023 to 31 May 2023.

2. Live Video Webcast: The proceedings of the AGM will be broadcast through a live webcast ("Webcast") comprising audio-visual feed via Zoom. Members who have registered for the AGM will be provided a link to the virtual AGM platform together with the login details upon registration via the link above.

3. Submission of Questions: If you have any questions relating to the AGM Ordinary Business, please submit your questions in advance of the AGM after receiving the login details, via this email to [email protected] no later than 5.00 pm on 02 June 2023.

The Association will collate the questions received and endeavour to address all substantial and relevant questions received during the AGM itself. Questions submitted without providing the member’s full name will not be addressed.

4. PDPA: By registering for the Annual General Meeting, a member of the Association consents to the collection, use and disclosure of the member’s personal data by the Association, its agents and/or its service providers, for the purpose of processing, administering and granting access to members to view the live webcast of the AGM proceedings, and the preparation and compilation of the attendance lists, minutes and other documents relating to the Annual General Meeting.

南侨万岁！🥳 今天3月8日是南侨创校周年，校友会会长翔羚及副秘书岳莹今早到了南侨中学参加校庆兼颁奖典礼。

The Alumni was invited to Nan Chiau High School this morning to join in the celebrations and prize giving ceremony. It is heartening to see all our talented juniors! 💯👍🏻

Together with Nan Chiau High School 南侨中学 Principal Ms Siau and Nan Chiau Primary 南侨小学 Principal Mdm Ong, our Alumni chairman Siang Leng visited 高亚思校长 at her house to celebrate her 99th birthday! 🥳 🎉

Our best wishes to 高校长 for a bountiful birthday celebration and great health always!

A very interesting history of our ex Kim Yam campus!

Cheang Hong Lim derived his wealth from the lucrative o***m (revenue) farming system.

He purchased a house on Kim Yam Road in 1884, which passed through several hands before being purchased by Lee Kong Chian for Nan Chiau teachers’ training school in 1941. By the way, the school was set up by Tan Kah Kee, who led social reform efforts including towards the elimination of o***m addiction.

It was briefly used as a training camp for Dalforce in early 1942. After the war, it became Nan Chiau Girls’ School. The house was demolished in 1965 for a new school complex (now The Herencia). The school has since moved to Sengkang.
