Inspiring initiatives like PLAN 100 - Rural Education Program interest EduRetreat to explore the learning journeys that lead to total transformation with minimal resources.

PLAN 100 is a project to equip 20,000 girls and boys from 100 high schools in rural India with job and life skills. I is launched by Lend-A-Hand India in collaboration with Vigyan Ashram. (A film by Avakash Nirmitee for Lend A Hand India.)

EduRetreat plans to visit Vigyan Ashram:
Vigyan Ashram was founded by Dr. Kalbag near Pune, India in 1980. This technical school for village children links education to real life problems, earning while learning and solving problems of rural poor. This work based model of education has been found very effective.

Multiple Intelligence Institute - MII 04/02/2010

‘I take a great deal back from India that is working its way into my MII work - about cultural mindfulness and ways to 'enter into' the MI conversation-- but equally the ideas and insights from you all and what you brought to the trip. I really look forward to picking up the threads with each of you as individuals and as a thought-collective!’

The Project Approach 04/02/2010

We were a group of American, Argentinean, British, and Canadian scholars and teachers interested in learning about the education of young children in India. We were graciously received, enjoying fantastic hospitality wherever we went. With our various hosts we discussed our mutual interest in education and reflected on similarities and differences in our priorities for young children.Among the major similarities were a concern for each individual child and the provision of an educational context which honoured all aspects of children’s development. The most marked difference for me was an Indian concern with the spiritual development of children. In some cases this was aligned with physical development and the opportunity for children to engage in yoga and meditation.
