Sometimes, the path you plan for yourself takes you somewhere completely unexpected.
For National University of Singapore alumnus Anoj Viswanathan (Engineering ’08), a disrupted career plan during the 2008 financial crisis led him to microfinance — and eventually to co-founding Milaap with fellow NUS alumnus Sourabh Sharma (Computing ’04) and co-founder Mayukh Choudhury.
What started as an idea to make microfinance more accessible eventually evolved into a crowdfunding platform for social causes, connecting people who want to help with those who need it. From making a major business pivot to navigating COVID-19 and finding a sustainable way to keep Milaap running, Anoj's journey is one of resilience, experimentation and staying true to purpose.
Today, 16 years on, Milaap continues to help people access support when existing systems fall short.

Are you ahead of the quantum curve — or already behind it? ⚛️
AI is changing the world. Quantum computing could change it again.
Our National University of Singapore alumni and students came together for an engaging evening exploring the possibilities of quantum computing and AI, and what these technologies could mean for industries, careers and the skills of the future.
The panel discussion with NUS College of Design and Engineering brought together:

🇸🇬 How do you celebrate National Day when home is far away?
For some of our alumni overseas, it means gathering with fellow Singaporeans. For others, it’s finding a familiar taste of home, cooking a favourite dish, or simply slipping back into Singlish with friends.
