Meet Assistant Professor Phillis Teng from our Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS) academic department!
A motto that guides her: “...To Learn is to Live...” (adapted from Hlovate).
Sharing the background behind her favorite quote, Asst Teng notes:

Meet Dr Dawn Ng from our Mathematics and Mathematics Education (MME) academic department! 📐✨ She is also the Assistant Dean, Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Office of Teacher Education & Undergraduate Programmes.
Behind every impactful researcher is a foundation built on great mentorship. For Dr Ng, that journey has been shaped by inspiring figures, including PhD supervisors Professor Gloria Stillman and Emeritus Professor Kaye Stacey, as well as Emeritus Professor Peter Galbraith from The University of Queensland, Australia, a pioneer in mathematical modelling and a giant in mathematics education research.
From leading global initiatives with the International Community of Teachers of Mathematical Modelling and Applications (ICTMA) to introducing ground-breaking concepts like meta-metacognition in the classroom, Prof Galbraith’s work has reshaped how we understand task design, cognitive processes, and the vital role of teachers in facilitating learning.
