A term-long project, built little by little.

This orangutan playground began with the children’s curiosity and slowly took shape over the weeks through conversations, planning, building, and plenty of hands-on creating.

From the trees and bridges to the fruits and little resting spaces, every part reflects the children’s ideas, imagination, and growing understanding of how orangutans live and move in their environment.

More than just making a model, this project gave the children time to think deeply, work together, solve problems, and care about the world beyond themselves.

A beautiful reminder that when children are given time, space, and trust, their ideas can grow into something truly meaningful

Storytelling Month at Dreamkids 📚

This month, we are so happy to welcome our parents into the classroom to read with the children.

There is something very special about seeing a familiar mummy or daddy sit in front of the class, holding a book, and sharing a story with everyone.

The children listen, laugh, ask questions, and sometimes proudly say, “That’s my mummy!” or “That’s my daddy!”

Thank you, parents, for taking the time to be part of our Storytelling Month. These simple moments help our children see that reading is not just something we do in school — it is something we enjoy together as a community.

At Dreamkids, every story shared becomes a memory made.

Anna’s comic made me smile.

A cake.
Two friends.
A little argument.
A lot of expression.

“This is my cake.”
“No, this is my cake!”

What looks like a simple drawing is actually storytelling in action.

She planned her story in parts, added speech bubbles, showed feelings through the characters’ faces, and used her own writing to bring the story alive.

It may not look “perfect” to adults.

But to us, this is beautiful.

Because this is a child learning that her ideas matter.
That her words can tell a story.
That drawing and writing can work together.

This is how writers begin.
Not with perfect spelling, but with a story they really want to tell.

Children do not only grow in classrooms.
They grow when they run, explore, fall, try again, and laugh together.

We see a child learning to aim.
To try again when the ball does not go in.
To coordinate her body while running.
To judge distance.
To balance speed and control.
To laugh, move, and build confidence in her own body.

As teachers, these are the moments we love watching.

Sometimes, confidence looks like crawling through a hula hoop under the bright morning sun.

These are the little moments we treasure — where children are not rushed, but gently given space to grow, explore, and believe:

“I can do this.”

Here’s to the mothers, grandmothers, and all the beautiful women who love, guide, hold, comfort, and inspire our children every day.

Your love is often quiet, but it is deeply felt.

In the little routines, the gentle reminders, the warm hugs, and the sacrifices no one always sees — you are shaping hearts in the most meaningful way.

May you feel loved, appreciated, and celebrated today and always.

From all of us at Dreamkids Kindergarten,
Happy Mother’s Day.

Last Monday, I had the privilege of attending a talk by Dr Cheng Xueqin, the founder of Anji Play, organised by SUSS.

So much to learn.
So much to reflect on.

Her sharing reminded me again that true play is not just about giving children toys, space, or time. It is about how much we truly trust children.

Trust them to think.
Trust them to try.
Trust them to take risks.
Trust them to solve problems.
Trust them to make meaning from their own experiences.

As educators, this is not always easy. We are so used to guiding, planning, helping, and sometimes stepping in too quickly. But when we pause and really observe, children often show us that they are far more capable than we imagine.

The session left me reflecting deeply on my own practice, our environment, and the kind of childhood we want to protect for children.

At Dreamkids, we still have much to learn and grow. But this is the work that matters — to keep asking ourselves how we can give children more voice, more courage, more ownership, and more real opportunities to play.

Feeling grateful, inspired, and humbled.

Today, the children explored movement, balance, coordination, and courage through open-ended outdoor play. What may look like “just play” is actually their body and brain working together — learning how to plan, problem-solve, take safe risks, and trust themselves a little more each time.

Today was one of those simple, heartwarming mornings.

Our mommies and children spent time together making handmade pretzels — rolling the dough, twisting it into shape, laughing at the funny ones, and enjoying the process together.

Some pretzels were big, some were tiny, some had their own special shape — and that was the beauty of it.

More than the pretzels, it was really about the time spent together. Little hands beside mummy’s hands, creating something and making memories.
