Last Saturday, alums of many cohorts, including TDP and CCP, gathered back at Cinnamon College. Witnessing the camaraderie and sense of unity that permeated throughout the event was incredibly heart-warming! It was a wonderful time of celebrating friendship, commemorating milestone years, and saluting the legacy and growth of our community.

A special shout-out again, to the Classes celebrating their milestone years – Class of ’03, ’08, ’13 and ’18!

Wishing USP alums, Happy World Mental Wellbeing Day! Always be kind to yourselves and to each other.

Interest Groups (IGs), both old and new, are a big part of NUS College’s community life and a way for students to explore their interests and give back to the community. ✨

One such IG with a great legacy is Connect Tuition, a pro-bono programme founded in AY2013/14 that provides weekly one-to-one tutoring and mentoring sessions to children residing in rental housings in the vicinity of NUS.

In this feature, we invited Annalisa Look (center) and her then mentor Joey Ong (right), USP Alumni from Class of 2017, back to Cinnamon College to reminisce about their time in Connect Tuition in 2015 and share their experiences with Teo Jer Rei (left), one of the current co-Directors of Connect Tuition. 😊

Annalisa, a Secondary 1 student in 2015 who attended Connect Tuition with her younger sister Natasha Look (left in video), recalled her time fondly and especially enjoyed dinner time at Dining Hall with her mentors, who provided her with emotional support like an older sibling would. As the Director for Connect Tuition in AY2014/15, Joey led the team to expand the capacity of Connect Tuition to serve up to 60 children by multiplying to 2 weekly sessions. Joey shared that her biggest takeaway was being able to facilitate meaningful connections between mentors and the children, which continue to bear fruit today.

Annalisa is now a Year 1 studying Linguistics in NTU while Joey is a mother of two and working in the Ministry of Social and Family Development. While much has changed, this spirit of giving remains. Connect Tuition continues to impact the lives of students and the team hopes to gradually expand its outreach efforts as they resume physical sessions! 🌟 29/09/2022
