[Chalking in CAPT]

Chalking is a long-standing tradition that many CAPTains look forward to in the beginning of every semester. With fresh chalk in hand, CAPTains inscribe and sketch on the doors of their friends. Among the chalkings are fond nicknames, banter, messages of varying lengths, quirky illustrations - all things that remind the CAPTain of that person. What is / was your favourite chalking on your door?

To new CAPTains, we would like to extend a warm welcome to CAPT, and to returning CAPTains, welcome home!

One week has passed since the start of the new semester, we hope that everyone has settled in comfortably and find some of these corners familiar.

As we usher in a new academic year, we can't wait to see how you will define your own unique CAPT journey! Here are some slices of life captured throughout move-in week. Happy start of semester!

Dear Captains (especially those living in the north and west of Singapore),

In previous years, we organized Blood Donations at U Town . We are not able to do it this semester but there is a call from the Singapore Red Cross.

We invite Captains to consider going to a suitable eg nearby blood donation (mobile) centre near your home.

Important to Note:

1) Blood Donation is an essential exercise thus a donor is legally allowed to go

2) Keep the Social Distancing guidelines

3) Go alone

4) Wear your mask

5) Check and record your temperature before going

6) Go and then return home directly – not an excuse to do side trips

7) Be familiar about whether you can donate - https://www.redcross.sg/give-blood/can-i-donate-blood.html

8) To encourage other Captains – feel free to wear a CAPT T- shirt

9) We don’t want to be showy or boast about it – maybe take a photo (side profile) or drop me a line … so we can encourage other Captains to step forward

The University Town College Programme (UTCP) application to the College of Alice & Peter Tan (CAPT) is still open! The admissions application for the Academic Year 2020/2021 will close in 5 days' time, on 13 April 2020 at 2359hrs.

As there is only one application window, all prospective students are strongly encouraged to apply even if you are still waiting for the offer to join an undergraduate degree programme in NUS.

Every Residential College has their speciality/secret sauce/ethos that influences its curriculum and college life. CAPT's happens to be Community Engagement (CE) and Active Citizenry (AC). What exactly is CE and ACE? And how does CAPT transform these novel ideas into life? Tune in and listen to short introductions by our CAPTains who introduce us to the different wings of CE and ACE which are all student-driven and student-led. These programs range from mentoring children to reaching out to migrant workers. It is never a boring time in CAPT as everyone goes out of their comfort zone to not only learn about themselves but help the community.

This ranges from topics like vampires, politicians and even community! Furthermore, CAPT offers multitudes of study trips to Nepal, Myanmar, the Balkans and Botswana. CAPTains go on a journey of self-discovery and immense themselves in the different narratives surrounding them.
