It was a vibrant evening at TMCS on Monday, 20 July 2026!

We came together to explore the theme “Culture Through Communication”, guided by our Toastmaster of the Evening, Steve Balakrishnan 🎤.

The evening reminded us that culture and communication are closely connected. The words we choose, the languages we speak, the stories we tell, and the traditions we carry all shape the way we connect with one another.

Our Club President, Calla Chiang, opened the meeting by sharing her experience visiting Osaka Toastmasters Club, where she connected with members from Japan and Taiwan through English and a shared love of communication.

The theme came alive as members shared greetings in different languages, including Tamil, Georgian, Russian, Polish, German, French, and Japanese. It was a beautiful reminder of the diversity within TMCS and how communication can make people feel at home across cultures.

A special highlight of the evening was the TMCS anthem, composed by Irina Iashvili and sung by members and the EXCO team, bringing energy and unity to the meeting.

The prepared speeches continued the theme through personal stories of autism and belonging, self-care, AI and authenticity, cultural identity, fear of judgment, reclaiming one’s mother tongue, and the humour behind everyday disagreements.

It was a meaningful evening that celebrated culture, courage, personal growth, and the power of communication to build bridges between people. 🌟

Some meetings remind us that communication is more than the words we say.

It is also the culture we carry, the stories we bring, and the way we make others feel at home.

This time, that feeling came alive through the TMCS anthem.

As members sang together, the room felt warm, united, and connected — a reminder that communication is not only spoken. It is also shared, felt, and experienced.

At our 20 July 2026 TMCS meeting, we explored the theme Culture Through Communication, where language, identity, and connection came together.

The evening opened with members sharing greetings in different languages, celebrating the diversity within TMCS.

Through the prepared speeches, the evening moved across self-acceptance, identity, authenticity, culture, judgment, language, and humour.

Langeline-Lennel Leong shared how Toastmasters became a place of structure, courage, and belonging.

Leong Shi Sing reflected on self-care and the importance of filling our own cup before giving to others.

Vesster Tan explored how AI can support us without replacing curiosity, empathy, humanity, or connection.

Valerie Chow showed how culture can shape communication style and personal growth.

Lynn Tan brought us into the fear of judgment and the courage to step forward despite self-doubt.

Linh Tran reflected on reclaiming her mother tongue as a bridge back to heritage, family, and belonging.

Nyi Nyi Htun brought humour to everyday misunderstandings and the power of listening, agreeing, and connecting.

Different speeches.
Different cultures.
One shared reminder:

Communication is not only about being understood.

It is also about making space for others to feel seen, heard, and at home.

It was a mesmerizing evening at TMCS on Monday, 13 July 2026!

We came together to explore the theme “Mesmerizing through Words”, guided by our Toastmaster of the Evening, Liesa Desisca 🎤.

The evening reminded us that words are more than tools for speaking. They can influence, connect, persuade, encourage, and leave a lasting impression.

Our Club President, Calla Chiang, opened the meeting by linking the theme to the evening’s workshop and inviting members to reflect on what it means to be “the best persuader in the room”.

The highlight of the evening was Nigel Lew workshop, The Best Persuader in the Room, where he explored the art of influence without pushing. Through demonstrations, storytelling, and interactive exercises, he showed that true persuasion happens when the audience arrives at the message themselves.

The meeting was filled with meaningful prepared speeches, thoughtful evaluations, and valuable role-holder reports that helped speakers become more aware of timing, speech fluency, and language use.

From stories of starting over, learning to ask, overcoming difficult turning points, embracing opportunities, managing up, discovering what lights us up, and building bridges through fintech, each speaker brought a different perspective to the stage.

It was an engaging and reflective evening that celebrated the power of language, the courage to speak, and the continuous journey of becoming more impactful communicators. 🌟

It was a magical beginning at TMCS on Monday, 6 July 2026!

We came together to explore the theme “The Magical Beginning”, guided by our Toastmaster of the Evening, DTM Ng Cher Khim 🎤.

The evening opened a new Toastmasters year for the club, with Club President Calla Chiang officially welcoming members and guests to the first meeting of the 2026/2027 term.

District 80 Director DTM Aaron Ting conducted the official installation of the incoming Executive Committee, while also recognising the service and contributions of the outgoing EXCO team.

The meeting reminded us that leadership is not only about holding a position. It is about continuing a legacy, serving with responsibility, and encouraging others to grow alongside us.

As the theme beautifully captured:

“The strongest clubs aren’t built by the boldest individuals, but by members who embolden one another to grow.”

The evening was filled with meaningful prepared speeches, engaging Table Topics, thoughtful evaluations, and strong role-holder support from the TAG team.

From reflections on identity and introversion, to life’s deeper homework, building strong teams, the meaning behind names, making space as leaders, and reconnecting in real life, each speaker brought a unique perspective to the stage.

It was a warm and energising evening that celebrated fresh beginnings, leadership continuity, personal growth, and the strength of the TMCS community. 🌟

Some meetings feel like a closing of one chapter.

Others feel like the first page of something new.

At our 6 July 2026 TMCS meeting, we explored the theme The Magical Beginning, a reminder that every new journey begins when someone chooses to step forward.

The evening marked the start of the 2026/2027 Toastmasters year, with the official installation of our incoming Executive Committee led by Club President Calla Chiang.

It was also a moment to honour our outgoing EXCO team, whose dedication, service, and leadership helped lay the foundation for the year ahead.

Through the prepared speeches, the evening moved across identity, purpose, teamwork, leadership, and connection.

Kapil Ramnani opened with Am I Really an Introvert?, challenging the idea that personality must fit neatly into one label.

In What’s Your Life’s Homework?, Anand Shankar explored how some of life’s deepest answers cannot be solved by the mind alone.

Irina Iashvili brought the audience into her version of building an Avengers team, showing how people grow stronger when their unique strengths are seen and valued.

With What’s In A Name, Sugandha Verma invited us to reflect on how names carry more than sound. They carry identity, culture, and memory.

Jowyn Goh’s Great Leaders Get Out of the Way shifted the focus from leading loudly to creating space for others to rise.

Gaurav Kayal closed with In Real Life, a timely reflection on loneliness, connection, and the conversations we often postpone.

Different speeches.
Different stories.
One shared reminder:

A magical beginning does not happen because everything is perfect.

It happens when people show up, take the first step, and embolden one another to grow.

It's an inspiring evening at TMCS on Monday, 8 June 2026!

We came together to explore the theme “Passing the Torch”, guided by our Toastmaster of the Evening, Ganesh Mohan 🎤.

The evening reminded us that leadership is not only about holding a role. It is about sharing what we have learned, encouraging the next person to step forward, and creating space for others to grow.

Our Club President, Nikhil Halwalkar, DTM, opened the meeting by reflecting on the importance of knowledge sharing and continuity in the Toastmasters journey. As the theme beautifully captured:

“A flame loses nothing by lighting another flame.”

The meeting was filled with meaningful prepared speeches, thoughtful evaluations, and engaging Table Topics that invited members to reflect on courage, uncertainty, leadership, and rewriting our own narratives.

From stories of unexpected life journeys, finding purpose at work, saying yes to new experiences, campaigning for leadership, embracing “I don’t know,” and managing our inner critic, each speaker brought a different perspective to the stage.

It was a reflective and energising evening that celebrated the spirit of Toastmasters: learning by doing, growing through feedback, and passing on encouragement to those who come after us. 🌟
