Received a suspicious phone call claiming to be from the police, a bank, or a government agency? Stay alert — it could be an impersonation scam.
Scammers often pose as officials from IRAS, LTA, MAS or banks, warning you about unpaid fines, compromised accounts, or even ongoing investigations. Some may even know your full name or NRIC number to sound more convincing — but don’t be fooled.
Legitimate authorities will never:
-Ask you to transfer money
-Request your bank login details
-Tell you to download apps from unofficial sources
-Transfer your call to the police
If you're unsure, call the ScamShield Helpline at 1799 (available 24/7) to verify. Always check that government SMS messages come from the verified gov.sg sender ID.
