🌟 Bedok Toastmasters Meeting Highlights 🌟

Theme: Coincidences

Our last week's meeting at Bedok Toastmasters was filled with meaningful stories, learning moments, and a few interesting “coincidences” along the way.

🎤 Prepared Speeches
Cheryl presented “Too Good to be True?”, raising awareness about scam incidents, especially those affecting senior citizens — a very relevant and important topic in today’s world.

Marcus delivered a speech titled “Later”, reminding us how the habit of saying “later” can slowly impact our health and daily habits more than we realise.

Ted spoke about developing the “It is What It is” mindset, encouraging us to focus on what we can control and not be overly affected by things beyond our control.

✨ Special Moments
It was Wee Nee’s first attempt as a speech evaluator, and she did a great job stepping out of her comfort zone.

Amy used a unique “Control – Influence – Concern” framework to evaluate Ted’s speech, offering a fresh perspective on evaluation.

Our Language Evaluator, Kelvin, introduced the word “Coincidences,” and members had fun trying to incorporate the word throughout the meeting.

🏆 Congratulations to our award winners:
🥇 Best Prepared Speech – Ted
🥇 Best Table Topic Speaker – Wee Nee
🥇 Best Evaluator – Amy

🌟 Yesterday's Meeting Highlights 🌟

Theme: Empower
What a great night filled with energy, sharing, and lots of smiles!

💪✨
🎤 Kelvin spoke on “AI, IA – Why I Still Resist”, openly sharing the innovation anxiety many of us feel when it comes to AI. His honest reflections on learning to embrace change while holding on to personal values really resonated — and the moment he pulled out his mechanical watch at the end? Such a thoughtful and memorable touch. ⌚👏

🎤 Sky shared his Pathways journey using the WAIT framework (Why, Assessment, Influence, Transformation). He spoke about how Toastmasters has influenced his growth beyond the club — shaping his learning, leadership, career, and even his family life. One especially heartwarming moment was how his journey inspired his grandchild, who later gifted him meaningful 3D‑printed items connected to what Sky has been practising. ❤️

💬 Table Topics by Amy brought lots of fun and laughter! Everyone was given a role — engineer, lawyer, president, hacker, and more — and had to convince us why their role was better than the previous ones using the WAIT framework. The creativity was amazing and the room was full of laughs! 😄🎭

🏆 Best Table Topic Speaker: Sky (as the Hacker!) 🥇
Another wonderful evening of learning, laughter, and empowerment. Thank you everyone for making the meeting so lively and enjoyable! 👏✨

👏 Well done to Kelvin Wong for hosting a highly interactive and thought‑provoking Table Topics session. By inviting participants to choose from the props he prepared and linking them to questions centred on current issues we could all relate to, the session was both meaningful and fun.

We look forward to our next meeting as we continue learning, growing, and supporting one another on our Toastmasters journey. 🌱
