Hi friends I had some time to myself this morning. I think it might show. 🤪

Introduciiiing, Little B 🍌. 👏🏻🥳🎉🫴🏻🕺🏻

Lil B and I are going to share another 3 words typically misspelled and mispronounced during my tuition classes. Usually seen+heard in children aged 3–6yrs.

If you have the time, maybe you can help your child if he/she needs to pay extra attention to these words.

Stay ripe and bright and let’s teach our kids how to say and spell these words right!

When I give tuition, I often notice that local children can find certain colours tricky to pronounce and spell.

Common examples of these colors are red, gold, and green. Sometimes it can be challenging for them because of how they hear these words being said. Very often, children spell these words based on how they hear or say them.

If you think your child may not know how to say/spell em right, take 2 mins to help them!

Enjoy spending time with your child as you guide him/her,

When I give tuition , I often notice that children aged 3-6yrs can find certain words tricky to pronounce and spell.

Common examples include dog, ship, and pig.

Simple words, yet surprisingly challenging for many young learners in Singapore.

Your child doesn't need to memorize how to spell these words and more worksheets are not needed.

Instead, teach them how to say these words the right way, and to spell what they hear.

Enjoy teaching your child,

❤️,

🧚‍♀️Letter sounds before letter names. Try it!

⚪Phonics teaches children how to read through letter sounds, not letter names.

⚪Research shows that focusing on letter-sound relationships builds phonemic awareness.

➡️Parents, if you don’t know how to sing it this way, don’t worry, I got youuuuu!

Sing along with me once you've got it! 😝

No actually, sing along with your little Pixie! ☝️

Hee hee 🤗.

Hope this is helpful,

Aly

🪼Sound of the Day🪼: Jj/Jj

Hi Good morning this is our last sound of the day for this series and our sound is /j/!

🧚‍♀️Heard in:

(Beginning)
⚪J-A-M
⚪J-AR
⚪J-E-LL-Y

(Middle)
⚪ E-N-J-OY
⚪ S-U-B-J-E-C-T
⚪ A-D-J-U-S-T

🧚‍♀️Most of the time,
/J/ doesn’t like to be at the end of a word.
If you hear a /j/ sound at the end, it’s probably a tricky spelling like -ge or -dge (like in cage or fudge).

🩷I hope all the videos sharing basic sounds have been helpful to you. I've had many parents share with me that their reading journey didn't involve phonics, which has left them feeling like they can't help their children with phonics because they don't know what the sounds of letters are.

Well, now you know!

Good luck!
