Congratulations to Professor He Bingsheng on receiving the 2026 Google Awards for Machine Learning Research and Education with TPUs!
His project is tackling a problem most people don't see: getting large AI models to actually run efficiently across thousands of processors. His team is building tools that automate this process — so researchers everywhere can focus on the science, not the infrastructure.

Ever had a "gut feeling" and wondered where it actually comes from?
Researchers from NUS Computing's Augmented Human Lab found that playing back gut sounds as gentle vibrations on the stomach can change how people feel hunger and how much they drink. Participants didn't even realise their perception had shifted.
It's early-stage research, but the possibilities are exciting: from supporting appetite recovery after medical procedures to wellness tech that works with your body's own signals, not against them.

What does it take to keep up with AI's growing demands? At the NUS 120 Distinguished Speakers Series, NVIDIA Chief Scientist Dr Bill Dally made a case that might surprise some: as AI reshapes the software world, hardware design needs more people, not fewer.
He also spoke about the limits of semiconductor scaling, why architectural innovation is the next frontier, and why academia's freedom to experiment remains one of its greatest strengths.
A good reminder that behind every AI breakthrough, there are people solving problems that machines can't – yet.

🎉 NUS Computing's ScholAIstic AI-driven learning platform has been recognised with the OpenGov Asia Recognition of Excellence Award 2026!
Built by the AI Centre for Educational Technologies (AICET), led by Associate Professor Ben Leong, ScholAIstic enables instructors to create customised AI chatbots for simulations and role-playing – giving every student the chance to practise, fail, and try again in a safe space.
The platform is already being used across disciplines like social work, law, and healthcare education at NUS. And we're just getting started.

Great computing minds come from all walks of life, but not every student starts with the same opportunities.
As NUS Computing celebrates 50 years of impact, we come together to support students in need of financial assistance.
In support of bursaries for NUS Computing students, this fundraising event brings together an afternoon of golf and an evening dinner of fellowship and community.
Every bursary means peace of mind for a student, relief for a family, and the freedom to learn, create, and dream bigger.
You can also support the cause through cash donations or by contributing prizes for the event.
