On Tuesday night, we organised the inaugural interfaith forum focusing on Su***de Prevention & the roles religious communities play in gatekeeping lives.
A candid discussion led to how we can create safe spaces intentionally, how we can get people to have meaningful dialogues on MH among faith communities and how we can collectively do beyond just creating awareness.
Thanks to the panellists for their inputs and our Guest of Honour, Parliamentary Secretary for MCCY/MSF, Mr Eric Chua for sharing some thought-provoking messages which were worth reflecting.
This was certainly an overdue initiative (due to covid) but certainly never too late to kickstart the movement. We thank the support from the 10 religious communities as we launched our Gatekeepers’ Programme to your religious youth leaders and practitioners.
We ended the forum by reciting the gatekeepers’ action pledge, a commitment to ourselves and our loved ones.
It was the end of the launch but the beginning of real work!
Hence, we will be starting our equipping sessions for the interfaith groups to sign up for the QPR Gatekeepers’ workshops. Those who are keen can drop us a message via Facebook!
Thanks to our partners like The Majurity Trust, Musim Mas GROUP, Innotrek, and Singapore Jain Religious Society and many others for supporting this movement!

Futuready Asia and Character & Leadership Academy mourns the loss of a close friend and advocate.
Mal has been the bright flame in the advocacy scene for the many years we worked together. She was someone who was not afraid to speak her mind and always fought for the underdogs and causes that were close to her heart. we had the honour of running many initiatives alongside her, and witnessing her tenacity and passion really kept us going too. Even in her final months she was still looking to organise collaborations and bring organisations together so that those who need it would benefit the most.
We will miss her dearly, but will remember the lessons we learnt together, the good times we shared and most of all her wide smile and energy.
Our hearts go out to her family during this time.

Advocacy has lost a giant.
Wan Joo wasn’t only just a partner to us; she was a driven, passionate, perceptive, empathetic and loving individual who always fought hard for those who needed help. She has been through thick and thick with us, having run many advocacy events and programmes together through the years, with her being the glue to link many organisations together so that others in need benefited. She also always made time to be there for us, no matter how tough it was on her end.
Her fire for doing more for the causes she believed in was contagious and it has fueled a lot of the work that we do too. She has worn many hats, but the hat that we remember her the most for was her drive to always give than to receive, and her immeasurable humility.
There are not enough words to explain how much she has meant to us at Character and Leadership Academy and Futuready Asia, but know that she will be dearly missed. Our heart goes out to her family during this difficult time.
Celebrating the life of a formidable leader, advocacy partner, and friend. She has touched our hearts, and her legacy will live in the work that we do.
