In the last of three posts on the recently concluded ASPaC* Awards 2017, we join our lecturer Jessica Chua, and second-year students Chua Ming Hui and Kelly Rahardja from the BA(Hons) in Design Communicaton programme as they tour the Printing Museum, Tokyo during the post-competition leg of their Japan trip. For typographic and printing history aficionados, this museum is surely heaven on earth!

In our second of three posts on the ASPaC* Awards 2017, we would like to congratulate the merit award winners from LASALLE's Diploma in Design Communication and BA(Hons) Design Communication programmes. We blazed into December with more awards in hand! This time, good news hails from Japan's ASPaC* Awards 2017. This first of three posts will foreground the works of two second-year students from our BA(Hons) in Design Communication programme: Chua Ming Hui and Kelly Rahardja were awarded the Japan Foundation Award and JPDA** Award respectively over the weekend. Having pitted themselves against the best of Asia, we trust the deserving winners will savour the rest of their Japan trip :)

Congratulations to all shortlisted Main Winners and Merit Award Winners after intensive judging of 95 entries from Singapore. The Singapore Jury Team was impressed with all the entries and it was good to see so many participants from art and design Institutions in Singapore. Shortlisted Main Winners will be sponsored (airfare and accommodation)to fly to Tokyo to attend ASPaC Awards Week. You are also entitled to attend the ASPaC workshop and visit to companies. Shortlisted Main Winners will be contacted by ASPaC Association for the invitation.
For shortlisted Main Winners and Merit Award Winners, you will need to send in your physical mock up to ASPaC Association, Tokyo for final judging. Your entries will be competing with the Main Winners and Merit Award Winners from the participating Asian countries. You will be contacted by ASPaC representative in Singapore for overseas shipping.

We are proud to announce that two of our students, Noel Sebastian Teo and Pal Ipsh*ta, recently won the 'Mentorship Challenge' held in conjunction with DDB Group Singapore. On top of the prize money ($500 each), Noel and Ipsh*ta have secured an internship with DDB – no wonder they are beaming 😀

Last week, our third-year students from the Diploma in Design Communication programme visited RJ Paper. They were given a tour of the facility and an introduction to the variety of papers employed in printed matter.

Djohan Hanapi of Knuckles & Notch graced our studio yesterday for a risograph workshop with our second-year students from our Diploma in Design Communication. Gape, as our students did, at these prints awash in glorious hues thanks to the magic of risography! Thank you Knuckles & Notch and we look forward to more fruitful collaborations 😀
