Spent 2 days last week before the year ended to give a talk on dancer's health to the girls at Jody Marshall Dance Company. I shared with the girls (aged 8-15) and some of their parents about injury prevention, management, and the importance of supplemental training for dancers (this was my pet topic in uni!). Also put my post-partum creaky body through some demos which thankfully I managed to survive.🤣

It is heartening to see that the importance of dancer's health is now taken seriously by dance schools, pre-professional or not. Back in my days there were no such education, we just focused on syllabus and forcing turn outs (amidst other really poorly taught body awareness issues now that I think about it 😖) - but whatever happened then drove me to my interest today and I hope fellow like-minded physios are able to change the culture of dance education, albeit slowly.

Thank you Teacher for asking me to be part of this! 💃🏻
