Professor Shlomo Yitzchaik's presentation delved into the intricacies of neuraminidase biosensing, shedding light on the recognition and hydrolysis of sialic acid. His team introduced a label-free electrochemical method, utilizing synthetic sialylated glycans, showcasing selective neuraminidase biosensing. In response to this challenge, a collaborative team comprising experts from Singapore and Israel is spearheading a groundbreaking initiative, known as the CellAg Project. The primary objective is to develop cutting-edge biosensors and mitigation strategies that can effectively detect and address microbial contaminants in cultured meat, seafood, and milk production.

🧪Key Objectives:
Biosensing Strategies: The project aims to leverage novel molecular recognition elements to create advanced biosensing tools. These tools will be designed to rapidly detect microbial contaminants, including bacteria, at ultralow levels relevant to industrial requirements.

Mitigation Strategies: In addition to detection, the initiative focuses on developing innovative, non-antibiotic strategies to inhibit microbial threats. The goal is to prevent resistance emergence and biofilm formation, contributing to antibiotic-free production capabilities.
