A team from our School of Film & Media Studies went to Prey Veng Cambodia for their YEP trip in Sep. 22 students led by Trip Leaders, Lau Chee Meng and Lim Hsien Yong, carried out their project at Phum Prek Primary School. They installed a water filter and painted the school's exterior and one classroom's interior walls for a brighter, more conducive learning environment. The team also conducted conversational English sessions to build the Cambodian students’ confidence in speaking English.
The itinerary included visits to Citadines Flatiron, a major provider of international-level residences in Phnom Penh, AV Designs, a provider of audio-visual equipment in Phnom Penh, and Twin Agri, a company that turns food waste into organic fertilizers for better yields.

We recently completed our Youth Expedition Projects (YEP) trips for 2024! While memories linger, we share some highlights from each trip.
The first trip for the 2nd half of 2024 was by our of Health Sciences-(HS). 19 HS students led by Anuradha Singh and Denis Lim went to Klang, Malaysia for their project at Elshaddai Learning Centre. They conducted health education on myriad topics – personal hygiene, waste disposal, basic nutrition, myopia prevention of myopia, personal hygiene, basic first aid and family planning. They also did basic eye and health checks. All in, they reached out to 400 primary school students and 100 Kindergarten pupils at the centre plus their families.
In addition, they visited Mustard Seed Capital and Life2Life Afghan Sewing Centre to learn more about the economic growth in Malaysia. A visit to the High Commission of Singapore was also on the calendar.
It looks like our HS students worked, learnt and played hard!
