📚 Building a love of books, one story at a time

In class, at the library, by the pool, listening to their teacher, a surprise guest storyteller, or sharing a book with friends, our K1 & K2 students never miss an opportunity to dive into a good story.

Beyond supporting early language and literacy development, books play a fundamental role in a child's growth. Through stories, children enrich their vocabulary, strengthen their listening skills, develop their imagination, and begin to make sense of the world around them.

Books also nurture curiosity, empathy, creativity, and critical thinking. Most importantly, they help children discover the joy of reading, a gift that can accompany them throughout their lives.

At La Petite Ecole, fostering a love of books from an early age is an integral part of our educational approach. By creating meaningful and enjoyable reading experiences every day, we help children build a positive relationship with reading and learning.

And judging by the smiles on their faces, our K1 & K2 students are already well on their way! 📖✨

🌊🐠 A morning of wonder at the Sentosa Oceanarium!

Yesterday, our N1 and N2 children (2–4 years old) set off on an exciting underwater adventure as part of their current learning about sea animals and ocean pollution.

Throughout the visit, they delighted in recognising familiar marine creatures, discovering endangered species and their habitats, including the fascinating coral reefs, and asking lots of curious questions along the way.

The biggest highlights? Standing in awe in front of the majestic sharks and graceful manta rays! 🦈✨

Beyond the excitement, these shared experiences help nurture children’s curiosity about the natural world while gently encouraging respect for our oceans and the importance of protecting them.

🇻🇳 CM1 & CM2 in Ho Chi Minh City!

Last week, our CM1 and CM2 students embarked on a memorable four-day educational trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Throughout their stay, they explored the city’s rich history and culture through interactive activities, including a historical scavenger hunt in the heart of Saigon and an authentic discovery tour led by local guides. They also had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Vietnamese culture and history while developing their autonomy, teamwork, and curiosity.

A highlight of the trip was the time spent with students from La Petite Ecole Ho Chi Minh City. Through collaborative activities, presentations, games, and informal exchanges, our students built new friendships and experienced first-hand the value of belonging to an international school community.

Beyond the visits and activities, this trip was an opportunity for our students to step outside their comfort zones, strengthen their independence, and create memories that will stay with them for years to come.

A huge thank you to the teachers, staff, host school, and families who helped make this wonderful adventure possible.

🍎 What looks like a fruit and vegetable stand... is actually so much more.

Following an inspiring visit from Marie Nicou, Principal of our sister school La Petite Ecole Bangkok, our Kindergarten teachers have introduced two new learning corners: a writing corner for our MSGS (4-6 yrs) students and a grocery shop corner for our TPS (2-3 yrs).

The grocery shop is part of our broader term theme on fruits and vegetables. Through play, children learn to identify, name, describe, sort, count, compare, memorise, smell, touch, pretend, negotiate, and cooperate. After first exploring realistic-looking fruits and vegetables in the classroom, they were also introduced to real produce and even baked a real carrot cake together. Whether preparing a shopping list, guessing a hidden fruit, organising a picnic with friends, creating a book about food, or cooking, every activity becomes an opportunity to develop language, reasoning, social skills, and autonomy.

✉️ Meanwhile, our MSGS students are discovering the joy of written communication. In the writing corner, they can write personal messages to their friends and post them in colourful handcrafted letterboxes created by their teachers, giving real meaning and purpose to early writing.

Children learn best when learning feels meaningful, joyful, and connected to the world around them.

🏕️✨ A night under the stars for our CP students ✨🌿

Over the past 2 days, our CP classes enjoyed a wonderful overnight adventure at Wildlings in lush Dempsey Hill!

From setting up their own campsite and building shelters to feeding chickens, making campfires and toasting marshmallows, the children experienced two days filled with nature, teamwork, discovery and independence 💛

The adventure also included energiser games, nature play, movie night (with pizza!), and even a swimming session to conclude the experience on a high note ☀️

Beyond the activities themselves, this special overnight stay gave our students the opportunity to strengthen friendships, build confidence, and create beautiful memories together.

A huge thank you to the Wildlings team and our teachers for making this experience so meaningful for our students 🌱
