Body Makeover with Ballet!
We are introducing the classical ballet technique to the advance level of the Young Fission Benefit programme this year.
Dance teacher Aisha explains: “Ballet can build you a great posture to strengthen all those jumpin’ around moves you do. The technique can also make you glow with confidence. Now who doesn’t want that?! Back to stretch your body long and tall, everybody!”
The Arts Granary
A premier creative arts school initiated by The Arts Fission Company. It provides art and dance training activities for children in a nurturing environment.
OUR PHILOSOPHY:
Just as a granary is used for grain storage, The Arts Granary works as a creative deposit for children to grow imagination and develop visual literacy in order to navigate the highly visual culture of today’s world. The Arts Granary inculcates a poetic aesthetics in children beyond mere drills of technical skills. All the arts activities and learning aim to foster a strong sense of

A PEOPLE’S MARINE ART ASSEMBLAGE is officially open!
To celebrate the opening, provided a primer into the current challenges and efforts to protect Singapore’s waters. This was followed by creative movements inspired by maritime debris and pollution. The movements served as a reflection on how these items, while inherently useful, can significantly impact the environment depending on how we use and dispose of them.
Bring your children for a meaningful outing to the Singapore Maritime Gallery this festive season and explore the complexities of progress, protection, and conservation.

AI Artist Joyce “Gups” Ng is in her element assembling the marine spare parts for the installation — A PEOPLE’S MARINE ART ASSEMBLAGE. Assisting her with the installation tasks are the multi-skilled Arts Fission dancers.
The final marine art installation reflects Singapore’s relationship with the ocean around us. There’s nothing romantic about an ocean streaming with plastic waste. All the child performers in our environmental dance-theatre production, as well as the young art-makers in the workshops, will tell you about the perils of ocean pollution!

AN UNUSUAL GLIMPSE OF A LOCAL SHIPYARD!
As an island-state, our lives depend heavily on cargo deliveries from ships all over the world. With such high sea traffic, it’s no wonder that maintenance works on sea crafts are nonstop activities in our shipyards (often unbeknownst to us common folks).
To gather the broken parts and recycled materials of decommissioned vessels needed for our marine art installation, we were connected to Bee Sin Shipyard to source these materials.
The visit to the shipyard was a huge eye-opener for us! For the artists walking into the shipyard’s outdoor piles of metal junk in all shapes, sizes, and textures, it felt exhilarating—almost like “kids let loose in a candy store.”
We walked away with a ton of nautical pieces, and the kind folks at Bee Sin Shipyard were most generous and helpful in facilitating our requests.
Come join us for the installation art opening this Sat! The installation, A PEOPLE’S MARINE ART ASSEMBLAGE, will be on display until the end of Dec 2025. It’s worth your while to catch this poignant maritime profile of Singapore!

CHILD-PLAY ENGINEERING at the Singapore Maritime Gallery!
Note the energy of these preschoolers intensely engaged in the mission of building a vessel to tackle ocean pollution. As a group, they were first tasked to make different parts of a boat before putting it all together.
We say this is absolutely no child’s play. Salute to the young engineers!
The children’s vessels will be part of a large-scale installation displayed at the Singapore Maritime Gallery from 13 -31 December 2025.

IT’S A WRAP: LOOKING FOR PAVONA
A sea of colourful coral performers taking their bows at the end of the show. Notice also many young audiences took to the stage where the reef structure was to join the churning dance of food for baby corals.
Don’t go away yet. We are wrapping up public art making efforts for the final marine art installation to be unveiled at the Maritime Gallery in early Dec. Stay tuned!

A tattered rope bridge or a discarded fishnet floating in the seawater?
Looking up from beneath the ocean through long sea grasses, that’s the forlorn views of the corals’ daily sightings of ocean waste.
The centre piece of the set is a reef structure marine biologists built for coral restoration under the sea.
You should come and feel the magic!
