Poised

I thank you sincerely for your support this far in our journey. Please continue the support by letting your friends, neighbours and family know about the classes and by encouraging them to also join the Poised family! There are a lot more challenging activities and exercises lined up when we meet again after the December break. The next class will be on Thursday, the 5th of January 2012.

Visualisation: These activities involve imagining a scene or situation and then portraying that through dramatics, drawing or descriptive writing. It strengthens and develops the creativity and imaginative faculties of young participants. These exercises are useful in developing the student’s skills in ideation, conceptualization and innovative thinking.

Improvisation and Speech: We also covered a bit of improvisation while using props and while speaking on a topic assigned on the spot. This helps participants build confidence, shed all forms of self consciousness and nervousness while addressing a gathered audience. It allows them to get used to the sound of their own voices when speaking aloud and eliminating common speech challenges like stammering and problematic diction. In younger children, it is a very useful exercise in making them more adept speakers with well developed presentation and public speaking skills.

With today’s class we conclude our first month of classes! And it was really fun and exciting! Some of the key concepts that we covered were as follows:

Non Verbal Communication: This module deals primarily with emotion portrayal through facial expressions and body language. It enables participants to become increasingly aware of their actions, gestures and expressions and helps them develop better control over their body and facial muscles. It is an extremely important module because unknown to us, there is a lot that we express through non verbals, even as adults in regular, everyday situations.

Classes are going great! We are having so much FUN! Every Monday, at 5.45pm. Don't let your child miss out!

Wishing everyone a fun-filled Navratri!!

The classes are mainly for 2 age groups. One group of students would consist of all between the age of 5 to 10 years, while the other group would consist of those between the age of 11 to 15 years. Each group would only comprise of 10 students.
