Celebrating Singapore’s 61st Birthday by putting citizenship into action! 🇸🇬✨

At St Andrew’s Junior College, developing purpose-driven, others-centred Servant Leaders means taking active steps to build a more caring and inclusive Singapore.

This National Day, our timetable was replaced with meaningful Service Learning opportunities and community advocacy experiences across Central Singapore CDC.

The morning began on campus with a vibrant celebration, with National Day messages, songs, and dance. Our cohort then moved out into the community to serve and advocate:

🌱 JC1 Cohort – Service Learning in Action: This year, we partnered with Central Singapore CDC, Active Ageing Centres, hospitals, and social service agencies. These partnerships provided the opportunities for our JC1 Saints to engage directly with residents and service users, deepening their understanding of community needs, and learning to serve with empathy and purpose.

🦒 JC2 Cohort – GiraffesSG Advocacy: In collaboration with Central Singapore CDC, our JC2 Saints stepped up as active citizens, sparking conversations with members of the public on contemporary social issues. Inspired by the ethos of "sticking one's neck out for the common good," they encouraged everyday Singaporeans to take small but impactful steps toward positive change.

🎭 Saints on the National Stage: The celebrations don't end today though! We are incredibly proud of our Saints who will be performing at the National Day Parade this Sunday, 9th August. Be sure to catch them in action as they represent our college and nation!

Each National Day, our students head out to different locations in Central Singapore CDC to stick their necks out for the common good, and do our best as community builders.

We are grateful for the opportunities provided that help develop our students, and proud of all our Saints who consistently rose to the occasion as Servant Leaders.

Every sunrise carries the promise of growth, perseverance, and fresh possibilities. Today, our College celebrated College Day 2026, honouring our Saints whose commitment to excellence and exemplary character has illuminated the path for those around them.

We were privileged to welcome Dr. Yeo Li Pheow, Senior Advisor (Special Projects) at the Institute for Adult Learning / SUSS, as our Guest-of-Honour to share in this joyful occasion. We were inspired by his sharing, inspiring our students to possess curiosity, courage, conviction and integrity in whatever they undertake so as to find their purpose and contribute to their communities.

This year’s Sports Carnival brought our campus to life with non-stop action, friendly rivalries, and unwavering support. From high-stakes floorball matches to intense tchoukball rallies, every class stepped up to give their best on the court, field and track.

Highlights of our day:

🎖️ Recognising Excellence: Kicking off with the Colours and Service Awards Prize Presentation to honour Saints who have served faithfully.

🏃 Track On Fire: An adrenaline-pumping 10x200m Relay featuring final runs from the top 8 JC1 and JC2 classes (after timed trials in PE lessons)!

🏑 Inter-Class Showdowns: High-octane matches in Frisbee, Floorball, Volleyball, Pickleball, Handball, and Tchoukball, with some of our CTs and CTAs joining the action on the courts!

📚 Stories connect us across time, classrooms and communities.

On the evening of 21 July, the Inter-JC Literature Symposium brought together approximately 350 teachers and students from ASRJC, EJC, NYJC, RVHS and SAJC for an enriching celebration of English Literature.

Through student showcases, insightful sharing sessions and a keynote address, participants deepened their knowledge, appreciation and understanding of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre.

The Symposium was a meaningful reminder that Literature does more than tell stories—it invites us to examine different perspectives, engage with complex ideas and better understand the world around us. ✨

At SAJC, we believe that nurturing exemplary character goes hand-in-hand with fostering mental resilience and emotional wellbeing. We are incredibly proud to look back on last week’s successful completion of our Mental Health and Wellbeing Week, a Student Development Project centered on student wellness and personal mastery. 🌟

Grounded in the theme "I got me, I got you, We got us," this week served as a beautiful reminder of the importance of mental health and the strength of a unified, supportive culture.

Our students engaged deeply with a variety of meaningful activities designed to build lasting self-care habits and community ties:

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Through the Class Unity Showcase and student-led wellbeing booths, Saints found creative ways to support and encourage their peers.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽-𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆: Our Peer Support Leaders (PSLs) facilitated critical sessions for the JC1 cohort, equipping them with the understanding and confidence to seek help when navigating challenges.

𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: We rounded off the week beautifully with a campus-wide Mental Health Roadshow and a high-energy Cohort Run at the track.

🤍 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁: Bringing an initiative of this scale to life requires immense collaboration. We want to acknowledge the efforts put in by our Peer Support Leaders (PSLs), Saints Advocates, and Mentoring Club for leading with outstanding servant leadership.

Our heartfelt thanks also go out to our dedicated teachers, college staff, and external partners. We are especially grateful to Good News Community Services for supporting and facilitating our JC2 assembly and Mental Health Roadshow. Their collaboration helped create a safe, engaging space for our students to learn and connect. Special thanks to Metropolitan YMCA, Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH), SHINE Children and Youth Services, and REACH Community Services for making our Mental Health Roadshow a meaningful experience for our Saints!

By learning to manage our own wellbeing and actively looking out for those around us, we continue to build a college where every Saint belongs, grows, and thrives.

We were deeply privileged to welcome Ms Sun Xueling, Senior Minister of State (SMS) for National Development and Transport, to SAJC for an insightful JC2 Dialogue with SMS. 🌟

SMS Sun provided our students with an engaging overview of the global landscape, discussing the importance of Singapore remaining competitive and collaborative in a complex world.

What followed was a vibrant and meaningful dialogue. Our students showed maturity and interest in our nation's future, raising questions on a wide range of domestic and international topics, including housing affordability, public transport enhancement, and employment opportunities for Singaporeans.

We are grateful for the warmth, sincerity, and patience SMS Sun extended to our students. Rather than just sharing policy facts, she walked them through the real-world considerations and trade-offs that go into building a thriving society. Hearing her reflect on her own path in public service was inspiring, and her words of encouragement left a lasting impression on our graduating cohort.

We are proud to share that Wallace Tang (24S11) and Gareth Ang (24S06) graduated from the Singapore Youth Flying Club's Private Pilot Licence course on 4th July 2026.

Aside from receiving his certificate, Gareth also received SYFC's Best-in-Flying Award at this year's Private Pilot Licence Wings & Aviation Awards Ceremony.

Congratulations to both young pilots! Up and On!

For this year’s Annual Cross Country: CARE to Run, the SAJC family took to the tracks at the new SIT campus at Punggol Digital District!

This year marked a special milestone in our partnership with the St. Andrew's Autism Centre (SAAC). For the very first time, our partners joined us in the run! Seeing everyone encourage, pace, and cheer one another on was a beautiful, quiet reflection of what it means to look out for one another and move forward as a community.

What a meaningful way to wrap up Term 2. As the June holidays begin, we wish all our students, staff, and partners a restful break. Take this time to recharge, reflect, and renew our focuses for the rest of 2026! ✨
