I feel very very blessed. It hasn't been easy to get to where I am right now. I am also sure I have made children and parents upset with me throughout my journey as a preschool educator but I always try to manage the situation to the best of my abilities. So whenever I receive nice gestures from them, I am truly appreciative of their kindest understanding and willingness to put up with me who is still learning everyday in being a good teacher.

Everyday is a new opportunity to learn, even for the one who teaches. So let us all grow together!

There is something I noticed about my children. Today, I gave them an earful about respect and proper behaviour. One of them mentioned to me last year that whenever I do that, I can be very scary. Anyway, after the teacher-is-angry session is over, I resumed my lesson and then got them to do work. Funnily enough, while they were engaged in their work, it really felt like we were all just hanging out together. One dude even moved from another table to sit beside me. It was as though the teacher-is-angry session never happened.

I guess that is only possible after you have established a strong rapport with them for at least a year. We can be weird together.

Hi! Sooo... I totally have not been maintaining this page and the fact that the only update to happen this year is this page's profile photo is starting to bother me. So hello 2016! 2015 was an invigorating year. Learnt so much and changed so much. This year has been less stressful in terms of me not being a form teacher anymore, ha! However, the pressure is still very well on as I have been working on improving my productivity at work on top of my main duties as a Malay Language and Malay Language Creative Arts Enrichment teacher. It is now April already and I must say I have already been through the highs and lows!

6 April 2016 is really a notable date of the year for me. Wow, just thinking about how I got through it... I was under pressure from both personal and professional sides; at the same time I was rushing an important paperwork to meet the morning's deadline, I was being told by my then boyfriend's partner that they had gotten back together. I had no idea my relationship had ended until she brought it up that morning. (Insert appropriate reaction here.) All things considered, I handled it well. No breakdowns, no meltdowns, and no smackdowns. Just died inside but that's about it.

Well, I am actually very hesitant about sharing this because it is a very personal story for me. However, I really want people to know that teachers are also real people with real problems. It is not easy to cope with personal issues while having to maintain standards of professionalism definitely but it can be done.

Here is a tip on doing so, which was basically what I did on that day: Stay task-oriented.

Yup. I just kept my focus on the things I have to do. After completing a task, I ask myself, "What's next?" Just keep doing this until your shift ends. Admittedly, it does help to have colleagues you can talk to about your personal problems.

I hope that this difficult story of mine will inspire everyone out there to just do their best at work no matter what.

Sometimes, we have to lose some battles in order to win the war -- I may have lost the relationship battle but I am still winning the never-ending war of overcoming struggles in life.

I also hope I can post something more cheery here next time. Hahaha!

Gooood morning! After being told off by my children for being confusing yesterday, I am determined not to let it happen again today! 💁 Keep things simple as the simplest things stick really. Like trying to explain the different phases of the moon with Oreo biscuits (as stipulated by the curriculum). The next thing you know, they are chewing off round biscuits into moon shapes. That's how they learn. They need to apply. Of course, at the same time, can't let them have too many biscuits! | Received verbal permission to post the attached child's photos |

Something interesting I found online. Unfortunately, the aspect of graphology that I am more interested right now is in the children's letter recognition and formation as well as print awareness and writing conventions. What? Teachers also have jargons like doctors, you know. 😁
