Homeschool Singapore Welcome to the Homeschool Singapore (HSSG) FB page, an offshoot of www.HomeschoolSingapore.sg

We are a collective of volunteers serving Singapore’s homeschooling families and those who are thinking of homeschooling. We aim to inspire and equip people to homeschool and embrace education as a way of life. HSSG serves as a platform for the community to connect, converse and contribute. Our work seeks to nurture a sense of community and spur collective learning and growth through shared memori

es, mutual assistance, open exchange, and common aspirations. We also engage homeschooling communities, businesses and organisations for collaborative opportunities. We hope you will find a like-minded community amongst us as you journey through your homeschooling experience. Maximising their Potential: Science-Based Study Skills for Children

Fellow homeschooling parents — you know the juggle. Sports CCAs, enrichment classes, PSLE prep, and somehow still trying to make sure the actual learning sticks.

This session is hosted by Wei Xuan, a homeschooling mum just like many of you — raising two boys (ages 10 & 13) while navigating the same busy, activity-packed homeschool life. With a background in Psychology and NIE teacher training, she's spent years turning brain science into real strategies that work in the middle of a full homeschool day, not just in theory.

In her own words: "My Psychology studies and NIE training taught me the theory. Homeschooling my two boys taught me the practice. I call it my second degree."

If you're heading into the PSLE stretch (or just want your child to study smarter, not longer), come learn practical, science-backed techniques for effective learning — without the unnecessary detours.

Are you exploring homeschooling for your child?

If you don't know anyone who homeschools, Homeschool Singapore might be the first place you find real answers. We'd love to talk to each of you one by one, but that's hard to do at scale, so as part of Library Chapters, we put together a session for anyone curious about homeschooling, with all the questions you didn't know who to ask.

We're so thankful to Sabrina and Grace for opening up their homeschooling journeys with us. There were so many good questions in the room, the kind almost every new homeschooler asks. We hope these notes from the session shed a little light for those of you just starting out on this path.

Working part-time and homeschooling

Can you really have both — a career and a classroom at home?
Raphaela is 8 years into figuring that out.

A practicing pediatric speech and language therapist and homeschooling mum of two (ages 11 & 6), she's still juggling a caseload, has tried her hand at more curriculums than she can count, and is still learning what "balance" really means.

Come hear her honest take on making room for both.

Some homeschooling journeys don't follow a straight line.

Grace Suryani used to believe that families who "combine" homeschooling with public school weren't quite the real thing — not real homeschoolers, in her mind. Then her own family became one of them. A reminder that the path rarely matches the picture we start out with.

Today, her household holds two ways of learning at once: two kids homeschooling, one in public school. Her curriculum is its own kind of mix — Classical Conversations, a little Sonlight, and Popular's exercise books woven in. Not a tidy system, but one that works for her family.

She describes it simply: "Homeschooling is like a walk in the park — Jurassic Park. Some days are good, many days... we are still alive."

If you're navigating a similar in-between — figuring out what fits your child, your family, your season — this conversation is for you.

🥳 Good news! Homeschoolers’ Achievement! 🥳

Dear homeschool family, we have a piece of fab news to share!

On 9 May, our homeschooling teens, Dave (Leader), Atheer, Mikail & Umar, competed in the 2026 Young Technopreneur Challenge organised by JA.

Our HS team, Red Dot Catalyst, pitched their innovative solution/business idea & prototype “Air You Can Trust”to teams of judges who were biz professional/leaders, alongside 27 teams from 12 other schools.

We first got through the preliminary round, top 2 out of our room of 9 teams, to get into the finals (despite initially somewhat worried to be first team to present in the room 😬🤭) !

After lunch and judges’ feedback, the team pitched again (and 1st to present again 😝) on the grand stage and in the end, we did our “homeschoolers” name proud by walking away as 1 of the only 4 winning teams! Our team was awarded “BEST PROTOTYPE AWARD”! 😱🤩

Thank you 🙏🏽 for helping (esp with our survey & giving feedback) and I hope this gives all of us here something to cheer about together as HOMESCHOOLERS! 😇😍😎🥳🥳

Homeschooling is alternative education, come join us to find out more about how to make it work.

Singapore has educators who care deeply. Parents who are paying attention. Social workers, nonprofit leaders, and policymakers who want better outcomes for children. What we don't always have is a shared space to think through education reform - what's working at the fringe, and how to make it work for more children. That's what the Alternative Education Forum 2026 is for.

On 7–8 May, Little U brings these worlds into the same room — educators, parents, school leaders, social workers, nonprofit leaders and policymakers — to have an honest, evidence-based conversation about holistic education and what it takes to make it real.

What does Charlotte Mason home education actually look like in Singapore? 🇸🇬

Shu Ping — mum of two girls, 6 and 10 — is here to show you. She stumbled into homeschooling by circumstance, discovered Charlotte Mason through trial and error, and hasn't looked back since.

"Homeschooling now feels sustainable and life-giving instead of draining."

Join her at our April Library Chapter as she shares her journey — honest, practical, and deeply encouraging for any family on this path.
