Our Primary 5 Humanites students, together with their peers from St. Nicholas Girls’ School and North View Primary School, embarked on an enriching Overseas Learning Journey to Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Foshan from 18 May to 23 May 2026.

Through meaningful school visits and vibrant cultural exchange activities, the students gained valuable insights beyond the classroom. This immersive experience has deepened their global awareness, strengthened their communication skills and enhanced their cross-cultural understanding.

It was a truly memorable journey of learning, friendship, and discovery!

P1 Learning Journey to Yishun Park Hawker Centre

In an effort to foster deeper connections to their neighbourhood and instill a stronger cultural identity and appreciation, the Primary 1 students embarked on an exciting learning journey to Yishun Park Hawker Centre. Here, they explored the different occupations within the hawker centre as well as features in the hawker centre that cater to the diverse needs of their patrons. As an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) school, students also learnt about the importance of sustainability and reducing plastic waste, for example, reducing single use plastic and opting for reusable containers instead.

From 20 to 24 April 2026, our school embarked on an exciting journey “Around the Story World” as we celebrated Good English Week with a vibrant line-up of activities that brought stories to life!

We kicked off the week with a lively Readers’ Theatre performance by students from Chung Cheng High School and our lower primary students from the KidsREAD Programme, setting the stage for an unforgettable literary adventure.

The official opening ceremony took place during Monday’s assembly on 20 April 2026, where students were transported into a magical world of stories through an engaging author talk by local author Mr Daryl Kho. Throughout the week, students participated enthusiastically in a variety of classroom and recess activities designed to promote the use and appreciation of good English. We were also grateful for the support of our parent volunteers, who interacted with and encouraged our students during the activities.

One of the highlights of the celebration was Book Character Day, where students came dressed as their favourite storybook characters and confidently introduced them to their classmates and teachers. Adding to the fun, our school leaders and administrative staff also joined in with their creative costumes! A special photo booth gave students and staff the opportunity to capture many joyful and memorable moments together.

Through these meaningful and engaging experiences, we hope our students have developed a deeper love for reading, storytelling, dramatisation, and the joyful use of good English in their everyday lives.

We are delighted to share that 25 of our students were specially selected to work with Children’s Museum Singapore in collaboration with the Museum Roundtable as part of the Children’s Season 2026 Children’s Panel.

As part of this enriching experience, our students had the exciting opportunity to appear in publicity videos and contribute actively to the development of this year’s sustainability-themed event. From discussing programme concepts and voting on festival offerings, to collaborating with artistes, facilitators, and drama educators during the co-creation process, their voices played an important role in shaping the programmes and experiences for fellow children and families.

Through this journey, our students deepened their understanding of sustainability and heritage while strengthening their collaboration, communication, and creative thinking skills. Most importantly, they discovered that their ideas can make a meaningful difference in the community. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, thoughtfulness, and dedication throughout the entire process.

Their contributions were also recognised nationally, with Huamin Primary School being highlighted in Lianhe Zaobao on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. The article showcased our students’ involvement in the creative and sustainability-focused activities organised for Children’s Season 2026. In addition, Huamin Primary School was also featured in The Straits Times on Monday, 25 May 2026. The article included a photograph of our students participating in the development and artist pitch sessions — a memorable moment that celebrated their creativity, confidence, and commitment on a national platform.

Do catch the fruits of their efforts at Children’s Season 2026, happening from 30 May to 28 June 2026 at Children’s Museum Singapore! We warmly invite families to experience an event co-created with the voices of children, for children.

Huamin x SportSG ActiveX Programme 2026

We are incredibly proud of our CCA leaders who took centre stage at the Huamin x SportSG ActiveX Programme 2026!

This meaningful event was largely student-led, with our young leaders stepping up in a big way! From emceeing, leading warm-ups, and facilitating sports activities for our senior guests. They also guided the seniors through a fun pennant-making Art and Craft segment, creating beautiful memories together!

To round off the day, our students and seniors sat down together over refreshments, sharing stories and getting to know one another across generations.

True to our school motto of Aspire to Excel, our students exemplified the spirit of servant leadership, leading not for recognition, but with a heart to serve and uplift others. Now in its third year running, this event continues to strengthen the bond between our students and the seniors in our community. We couldn't be more proud of how they represented Huamin!
