Your child wants to put on their own shoes. You need to be out the door in eight minutes. You have about two seconds to decide whether to wait or step in.
Every parent of a one to four year old knows this moment, more than once a day. This month’s Josiah Parent Conversation is an honest look at what’s actually happening in moments like this, and what a bit of room to try can build.
Join our Executive Director & Co-Founder Wendy Tan, and our Principal & Montessori Specialist Jocelyn Chang (25+ years in Montessori education). Together you’ll explore:
· Real, practical ways to give your child more room to try at home, so they build confidence instead of relying on you
· How to tell when a little struggle is a good sign, and when it’s time to step in

“If I don’t speak Mandarin, how can I help my child learn it?”
Many parents at our July Parent Conversation arrived with exactly this quiet worry. 💭
The reassuring answer is that you don’t need to be fluent, or even speak Mandarin at all. At this age, what draws a child to a language isn’t how well their parent speaks it. It’s how interested their parent is. A song in the car, a word named at the supermarket, a curious “can you teach me?” when they come home with something new. These small moments matter more than perfect pronunciation.
The heart of the session was a simple reframe: you don’t have to be the expert. As a parent, you can simply be your child’s learning partner. 🌱
We’re already preparing our next session for August, with more details to come soon. ✨ Whether your child is already part of the Josiah family or you’re just getting to know us, we’d love to see you there.

Long before babies can say “I love you,” they’re already finding their own ways to show it 💕
A smile that lights up when Dad walks in. Tiny hands reaching out to be held. The quiet comfort of knowing Dad is close by.
Our Infant Care Father’s Day celebration was a beautiful reminder that, even in the earliest months of life, love is experienced through presence.
Every cuddle, shared smile and reassuring embrace helps little ones feel safe enough to explore the world around them. These moments become part of the love, security and confidence they carry with them as they grow. 🌱
To every father and father figure who joined us, thank you for celebrating with us. It was a joy to witness these precious moments with your little ones ✨

The moments we remember most are often the ones shared together ❤️
Painting side by side. Cheering each other on through a game. Laughing over the unexpected. Simply enjoying each other’s company.
Our Father’s Day celebration was filled with these moments as fathers and children created, played and explored together through arts and crafts, games, and even an Amazing Race.
More than the activities themselves, it was the time spent together that made the day so meaningful. These are the memories that families will look back on for years to come.✨
To all the wonderful fathers and father figures who joined us, thank you for celebrating with us and for making the day so special. We loved having you with us!

You don't need to be fluent in Mandarin to raise a Mandarin-confident child.
Many families want their children to grow up comfortable in Mandarin. Keeping it alive day to day isn't always easy, especially when Mandarin isn't the language your home runs on. This session looks at what that means for your child's language development, and what you can realistically do at home.
🗣️ What your home environment can realistically do, even when Mandarin isn't the dominant language
🗣️ Simple, low-effort ways to keep Mandarin present day to day
Guiding the conversation are Ms Jocelyn Chang (Principal and Montessori Specialist), Ms Cao Chen (Lead Chinese Teacher), and Ms Wang Li (Senior Chinese Teacher).
Come with whatever questions you have on your mind.
If you know a friend who's been sitting with this question too, send this their way.

A father’s love is often found in the little things.
The words of encouragement before trying something new. The helping hand when challenges arise. The laughter shared during everyday moments.
Today, we celebrate all the fathers and father figures who support, guide, and cheer on their children as they learn, grow, and discover the world around them.
Thank you for your patience, love, and the countless ways you help your children build confidence every day.
Happy Father’s Day from all of us at Josiah! 💙

This Mother’s Day, our Infant Care spaces were filled with gentle laughter, music, sensory play, and sweet moments of connection between mothers and their children.
Every little activity became a chance to slow down, share cuddles, explore together, and create memories that both mother and child can hold close to their hearts.
Thank you to all the lovely mothers who celebrated with us. We’re so grateful to be part of these precious early memories ❤️
