Singapore’s People’s Action Party (PAP) seeks a strong mandate to lead Singapore out of the COVID- 19 pandemic and aftermath in the 2020 General Elections. Meanwhile, the Worker’s Party (WP) has emphasized that they are not trying to deny the PAP a strong mandate, but rather a “blank cheque.” The Progress Singapore Party (PSP) also stated the civil service would continue running the country and Singapore is safe, even if the government changed from the PAP to an opposition coalition.
The PAP holds 82 out of 89 elected seats in Parliament, exceeding the two thirds necessary to amend the Singapore Constitution. Since the PAP currently enjoys a supermajority in Parliament, do you think they will win more than 82 seats in General Election 2020?
