We are incredibly proud of our Yio Chu Kang Secondary School Katapella 2026 team for emerging as Top 6 Finalists in the national Katapella Choral Speaking Competition!
Our students have demonstrated remarkable dedication, resilience and teamwork throughout their journey. From countless rehearsals to the national finals, they have grown not only as performers but also as a close-knit team, proudly representing our school on the national stage.
Their performance, Jiwa Seia Sekata for the theme ‘Serumpun bak Serai, Sesusun bak Sirih’, celebrates unity, mutual respect and the strength of standing together as one community.

Celebrating and Connecting with Our Yio Chu Kang Community this National Day! ❤️🤍
Our Uniformed Groups — National Cadet Police Corps (NPCC) and Red Cross Youth (RCY) cadets — proudly represented Yio Chu Kang Secondary School at the Yio Chu Kang National Day Observance Ceremony (NDOC)
on 8 August.
Our cadets played an active role in the celebrations, forming part of the parade contingent with community partners. They also joined residents in singing familiar National Day songs and dancing to “Dance of the Nation”, bringing energy, joy and the spirit of togetherness to the celebration.
Through this meaningful experience, our students had the opportunity to connect with the wider Yio Chu Kang community, strengthen their sense of belonging and celebrate what it means to be part of Singapore.
Together, we celebrate. Together, we connect. Together, we build a stronger community. ❤️🤍

❤️🩹 Healthy Hearts, Healthy Planet! 🌱♻️
Our students had an insightful and engaging assembly programme with Singapore Heart Foundation, learning about the importance of taking care of our hearts through healthy eating, regular exercise and effective stress management. 🫀💪
We also welcomed ALBA E-Waste, who shared about the hazards of improper e-waste disposal and the importance of responsible recycling. 🔋📱♻️
A meaningful session packed with knowledge, awareness and practical tips — our students definitely enjoyed the learning! ✨

Our Secondary 2 and Secondary 3 International Students & PR Integration Programme brought learning beyond the classroom through meaningful cultural experiences. 🇸🇬✨
On the 25 May, our Secondary 2 ISPR students with their Singaporean buddies explored the rich heritage of Kampong Gelam, enjoying guided tours, communal Malay cuisine, and traditional kuih-making while discovering Singapore’s vibrant multicultural roots.
On the 31 July, our Secondary 3 ISPR students with their Singaporean buddies participated in the NE Venture Programme at the Singapore Discovery Centre, where they explored multiculturalism through food, traditional games, the Urban Garden, and the Our People, Our Home gallery, culminating in creating their own fusion burger concepts.
Together, these experiences strengthened friendships, deepened cultural appreciation, and fostered a stronger sense of belonging in Singapore. ❤️🇸🇬

📸Laughing out loud! Who knew traditional Stand-up & Crosstalk comedy could be THIS hilarious? 💥😂
On July 29th, the Sec 1 students were treated to a super fun and engaging local comedy show! 🎭✨
Our amazing local artists absolutely crushed it with their solo, duo, and group comedy routines! Not only were they dropping hilarious punchlines non-stop, but they also cleverly blended local dialects and our iconic “Kopi Culture” into the performance.
From relatable coffee shop banters to fascinating dialect fun facts, everyone was totally hooked—some were literally double-folded laughing! The show truly brought out the charm and power of language arts 🔥.
It was an insightful, fun-filled experience that left everyone with big smiles and great memories! A huge shoutout and heartfelt thanks to Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning for sponsoring this incredible event for our students! ❤️🙌
👇 What’s your go-to order at the local Kopi shop?
(A. Kopi O / B. Teh C / C. As long as there’s comedy, count me in!)
