Love is in the air! Some of you may have known Mr Raju Pakalapati (Arun) as your lecturer, but did you know he and his then-girlfriend (now-wife) met in class? Here, we have a Singapore Valentine story: A real-life fairy-tale of love, courage and success from the Vatel Singapore MBA.
In 2015, Arun travelled from Hyderabad, India to Singapore to join the Vatel Singapore MBA programme. Ms Constance Marechel, a young lady from Rennes, France travelled to Singapore to join the programme as well. For Arun and Constance, a great adventure was about to begin.
The two met in class, found a deep connection and fell in love. They were both top students in their MBA class and also members of the student council. After completing their MBA, they decided to stay in Singapore. Arun became a lecturer (lecturer of the year) at SDH Institute, while Constance became a French teacher. Finally, they decided to continue their adventure together in Rennes, France and got married in a fairy-tale castle wedding. Arun then learned to speak French and began working in a restaurant. Having settled down and decided it was the best time to chase their dream, they bought a fine-dining restaurant, serving speciality cuisine from the region.
As Arun and Constance continue their adventure together, remember this: You can achieve your dreams - you just need to identify them, be focused and fearless and you will succeed.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Vatel Bachelor’s alumna Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram (Ashley) shares with us: “My most memorable time in school will be the sharing sessions by my lecturers on their rich experience in the industry. All these make the learning process fun and interesting. At the same time, it is also a great stepping stone for me on what to expect when I step into the workforce.
Studying at Vatel is a great opportunity and a good foundation for those who want to follow their dreams of joining this industry. The curriculum has a good balance of both theoretical and practical knowledge, and I am proud to call myself a Vatelien!”
As part of the sales team in Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort & Spa Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City, Ashley plays an integral role in promoting the hotel products and services and bringing in revenue. All the best Ashley!

With close to 85% of Singapore’s population fully vaccinated and the successful implementation of the VTL for Brunei Darussalam and Germany, Singapore will extend the VTL to nine more countries in a cautious and step-by-step manner and reclaim and rebuild our status as an international aviation hub with global connectivity.
Following the high vaccination rate in Singapore, and the successful implementation of the Vaccinated Travel Lane with Brunei and Germany, we are taking another step to reconnect with more countries. Get a snapshot of Singapore’s reopening efforts in the infographic below.

Last week, we welcomed Mr KS Thomas to speak to our MBA students about how Unions work in Singapore and the very unique tripartite model of industrial negotiations. He gave specific insights into how employee disputes are amicably resolved with common objectives.
Having spent most of his working life in the Trade Unions both in Singapore and for an International Trade Union body (where amongst other responsibilities tackled the issue of Child Labour), Mr KS Thomas is truly a personification of Tripartism which is a bedrock of Singapore’s Industrial Relations system.

Bachelor's student, Tungaa, shares her home-based learning experience with us!
“Since we entered phase 2, our school started running online lessons. I feel online studying is as good as studying on campus. There were no differences in terms of quality. A good thing I want to point out is our lecturers and the materials and lessons are all helpful. I didn’t feel any differences between studying on campus or from home. We learned everything we were supposed to cover. I noticed that all my classmates were participating actively in online class activities.”
