I attended three days of Train-the-Trainer - Developing and Adapting TH activities for multiple client groups (Intensive). It was such a rewarding opportunity to learn not only from the trainers, By Wind and Wave and Simon Soh, but also the participants. With the combination of my ACTA, psychotherapy and therapeutic horticulture knowledge and experience, I was able to internalise the learning much better.

Join me on 27 December 2025 at Woodlands Botanical Garden for a gentle journey into social & therapeutic horticulture. Through stories from the garden, lived experiences, and reflections, we’ll explore how connecting with plants and soil, the foundation of life, nurtures wellbeing through mindfulness, gratitude, hope, and a sense of purpose. 🌻
Set among greenery, this sharing session invites you to slow down, engage your senses, and experience how small acts of nurturing soil and plants can cultivate positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and achievement. Whether you are curious about social & therapeutic horticulture or simply seeking a restorative pause, come explore and be inspired together. ☘️

We enjoyed a beautiful morning at HortPark’s Therapeutic Garden with clients from S3 (Stroke Support Station). The gentle sunshine and cool breeze made our warm-up stretches, breathing exercises and mindful garden walk especially inviting, supporting mindfulness and positive emotions.
Participants noticed colours, textures and scents with curiosity, cultivating gratitude for simple moments in nature. During the seed-sowing activity, placing seeds into soil encouraged a sense of hope, growth and agency.
Shared laughter, calm focus and sensorial experiences nurtured connection and wellbeing — a warm reminder of how nature helps us feel grounded, resilient and uplifted.

The session at Pasir Ris Park Therapeutic Garden was a beautiful reminder of how nature connects hearts and inspires creativity. Together with seniors from SAGE and passionate volunteers from CapitaLand, we explored the healing joy of a leaf collage and nature printing activity.
We began with gentle warm-up stretches and mindful breathing, inviting everyone to slow down and arrive in the moment. With calm minds and open hearts, we took a peaceful stroll through the garden, mindfully observing, touching and gathering leaves of different shapes, sizes, patterns and colours. Along the way, familiar plants awakened fond memories, and curiosity blossomed into meaningful conversations.
During our leaf collage and nature printing session, creativity came alive. Some took time to craft their art with focus and calm, while others created freely and joyfully. There was laughter, storytelling and new friendships forming across the table. ❤️
Positive psychology reminds us that simple moments of connection, purpose and joy help build emotional wellbeing — and today, we felt that deeply.
🌿 When hands create, hearts connect.
Can’t wait for the next session among the trees and sunshine! ☀️🍃

How did you spend your Thursday morning?
I spent mine with them, happily and meaningfully, exploring the plants in the Therapeutic Garden, listening to the rooster crow and cicadas sing, touching numerous plants, smelling the fragrant leaves, looking for colourful flowers, playing with seeds and creating patterns and art out of them.
It is not the end result that is important but the process of interacting and helping one another, sharing resources and ideas, sharing stories about how to use the plants, plant benefits and their life history that make the entire session meaningful and enjoyable! And it's when people are relaxed and feel safe that they are willing to share more.
So, which is your favourite?

Thank you Woodlands Botanical Garden for having us there.
An enriching experience with the kampong spirit brought people of all age groups together in this "It Takes A Village" event, held at the void deck next to the Woodlands Botanical Gardens. Our booth, named "Shine From Within", received positive feedback about the unique creations that can be handmade here; suncatchers that make use of nature to bring beauty.

☀️🌧️ From sunshine to rain, nature had its own plans today at HortPark’s Therapeutic Garden.
Just as I finished setting up, the skies shifted from bright to gloomy. I thought it might pass—but as the Bishan Community Garden participants arrived, the rain poured down.
💚 In that moment, something beautiful happened. Everyone came together, helping to move everything into the Hands-On House. What could have been a setback became an invitation: instead of walking the garden, we carried the garden indoors.
I introduced the leaves and seeds I had brought along—some familiar, some surprising. The conversations blossomed:
✨ Someone shared how ruta leaves are used in cooking.
✨ Others lit up at the sight of tamarind leaves, recalling memories of assam fish curry.
✨ Curiosity sparked, laughter flowed, and suddenly the room felt like a living garden of stories.
🌱 After completing their seed mandala activity—a reminder that beauty can grow even in unexpected places—the rain lifted. Together, we stepped out into the Therapeutic Garden, greeted once again by the sun, bees, butterflies, flowers...
Sometimes, the most meaningful connections happen not when things go as planned, but when nature gently nudges us to slow down, adapt, and simply share. 🌿💫
