兩廳院表演藝術圖書館主題展《遇見蕭邦》 來自波蘭的蕭邦（Frédéric Chopin - 1810-1849），無庸置疑是古典樂界最具代表性的人物之一。不論是聆聽或演奏蕭邦，他的音樂絕對都帶給我們不可抹滅的深刻印象，旋律迷人，和聲驚艷，仿若身歷其境，而更難得的是每位鋼琴家....

🎵 節拍器是誰發明的？
從「滴答滴答」到貝多芬的速度革命

你有沒有想過，在節拍器出現以前，音樂家到底怎麼知道 Allegro 要多快？

答案其實很簡單：沒有一個絕對標準。

17、18世紀的樂譜主要使用 Largo、Adagio、Andante、Allegro 等速度術語。這些詞可以告訴演奏者「大概應該多快」，卻沒有辦法精確告訴他每分鐘應該演奏幾拍。

於是，人們開始嘗試製造可以「固定速度」的機械裝置。

🕰️ 節拍器其實不是突然被一個人發明的

18世紀已經出現過幾種節拍器的前身，其中包括利用鐘擺原理來產生規律節拍的裝置。

到了19世紀初，德國音樂家兼發明家 Johann Nepomuk Mälzel（1772–1838）開始發展機械節拍器。

但這裡有一個很重要的歷史細節：

Mälzel 並不是毫無爭議的「第一個發明者」。

荷蘭發明家 Dietrich Nikolaus Winkel（約1777–1826）在1810年前後製作了一種非常重要的擺錘式節拍器。它的關鍵特色，是可以透過改變擺錘的位置來調整速度。

Mälzel 後來看到了 Winkel 的裝置，對其進行改良，並在1815年取得相關專利。

因此，今天比較謹慎的說法是：

Winkel 對現代節拍器的設計有重要貢獻，而 Mälzel 則將這種裝置改良、商品化並廣泛推廣。

🎼 那為什麼我們今天還會看到「M.M.」？

因為 Mälzel 的名字後來和節拍器幾乎畫上了等號。

樂譜上常見的：

M.M. ♩ = 120

其中 M.M. 就是：

Mälzel’s Metronome
「梅爾策節拍器」

意思是四分音符每分鐘120拍。

這件事情看似只是多了一個數字，實際上卻改變了音樂史。

因為「Allegro」從此不再只是「快一點」，而可以進一步寫成：

♩ = 120

速度第一次可以被精確地量化。

🎹 而最積極擁抱這個新工具的人之一，就是貝多芬。

貝多芬在節拍器出現後，開始為自己的作品加入精確的節拍器記號。

他甚至重新檢視自己早期作品的速度，並在1820年代與 Mälzel 的節拍器及速度標記有密切關係。

這對後來的演奏傳統影響非常大。

因為作曲家不再只是告訴你：

「這裡是 Allegro。」

而可以直接告訴你：

「四分音符每分鐘幾拍。」

🎻 但事情馬上變得有趣了……

因為後世演奏家發現：

貝多芬留下來的某些節拍器數字，真的……非常快。

於是音樂學家開始爭論：

這些數字到底是不是貝多芬真正想要的速度？

是節拍器本身有問題？

是貝多芬使用節拍器時出現誤差？

還是我們今天對19世紀速度概念的理解出了問題？

這個爭議至今仍然存在。

所以看到：

Beethoven
♩ = 108

現代演奏家並不一定會說：

「好，老師規定108，那就108！」

反而會開始研究：
當時的節拍器、樂譜版本、貝多芬的演奏習慣，以及19世紀的速度觀念。

📱 從機械節拍器到手機App

19、20世紀的機械節拍器逐漸成為音樂家與音樂學生的日常工具。

最經典的造型，就是我們今天熟悉的木製或塑膠金字塔形節拍器：

滴——答——滴——答——

後來又出現電子節拍器。

再到今天，一支手機就可以同時當：

調音器＋節拍器＋錄音機＋節奏訓練器。

但有一件事情似乎從19世紀到今天都沒有改變：

學生：

「老師，我覺得我已經很穩了。」

老師：

「那我們開節拍器。」

其實節拍器最偉大的地方，不只是讓我們知道「一分鐘有幾拍」。

它讓音樂史第一次真正開始思考：

速度，究竟能不能被精確地定義？

而這個看似簡單的「滴答聲」，最後竟然改變了我們演奏貝多芬、舒伯特、布拉姆斯，甚至整個古典音樂傳統的方式。

Trinity diploma workshop

While my children were at school, I didn't let a single minute go away. I scheduled a high-level professional development session for myself—attending the Trinity College London Classical Music Diploma Workshop 🎹✨

As a piano teacher, I’m always the one giving lessons. Shifting into the "student" seat today was incredibly refreshing and rewarding!

The session was led by the amazing Ms. Jacqueline Leung, a senior Trinity Diploma Examiner. Hearing everything directly from an examiner’s perspective provided so many invaluable insights.

I’ve already jotted down several key takeaways to implement with my students immediately:

1️⃣ Common Pitfalls: Learning exactly what examiners look out for in advanced diploma exams so my students can avoid common mistakes.

2️⃣ Strategic Repertoire Selection: Choosing pieces isn't just about difficulty; it’s about matching the student's unique personality and strengths.

3️⃣ Stage Presence & Interpretation: At advanced levels, it is no longer just about playing correct notes. It is about musical maturity and commanding the stage.

To top off an already inspiring morning, I got incredibly lucky and won the lucky draw! 🎉🎁 I brought home the official Trinity Aural Tests Book 1 (Initial to Grade 5). I guess good things happen when you keep learning! I can't wait to pass this luck and knowledge on to my students.

💡 How the Toy "Co-Teacher" Works:

1️⃣ Locking in the Repetition Target 🎯

Before writing a single note, my kid and I analyze the motif of the given opening. Once we decide which bars need a Literal Repetition or a Sequence (for example, Bar 3, or later in Bars 5 and 6), we pop these two puppy cupcakes right onto those exact spots on the staff paper!

2️⃣ An Eye-Catching Visual Navigation 🐶

An 8-year-old’s attention can easily drift away with the melody.

Having these cute, bright little toys on the page is like putting a "GPS navigator" on the music sheet. The moment she writes up to that bar and spots the little puppy, she instantly remembers: "Oh! This is where I need to mirror the earlier motif!"

3️⃣ Framing the Structure Before Adding the Notes 🦴

The puppy toys help her lock down the core structural framework first. With the skeleton in place, she can freely expand the melody in the remaining bars.

By the time she finishes all 12 bars, the composition flows naturally with clear phrasing and contrast—exactly what ABRSM Grade 8 examiners look for!Advanced music theory doesn't have to be dry and boring. By turning strict rules into concrete game props, learning becomes incredibly fast and fun! ✨

💡 玩具“神助攻”玩法揭秘：

1️⃣ 锁定Repetition目标

在动笔前，我和孩子先分析原题的Motif（动机）。决定好要在哪一小节（比如第3小节，或者后半段的第5、6小节）做完全重复（Literal Repetition）或模进（Sequence）时，就把这两个蛋糕狗🐶啪嗒一下，压在那几小节的谱表上！

2️⃣ 视觉强提醒

8岁孩子的专注力容易跟着旋律跑。有了这两个显眼的小玩具，等于在五线谱上装了“导航”。写到那里时，她一眼看到玩具，就会立刻反应过来：“哦！这里我要呼应前面的动机了！”

3️⃣ 搭好骨架再填肉

小玩具帮她把“结构骨架”先固定住，剩下的空隙再进行旋律铺展。12个小节写下来，结构有呼应、有起伏，完全符合八级评卷官的审美！高级乐理不用枯燥地讲理论，把规则变成具象的游戏道具，孩子学得又快又快乐！

Every week, these little piano students find ways to arrive early or stay late just to play with each other. One week it’s catching butterflies, the next it’s playing a role play.

But the moment they see Teacher Nicole’s piano room open up, everyone rushes in to take turns showing off the songs they’ve recently learned... So grateful for the parents' trust, allowing music and friendship to meet perfectly here! Seeing them compete to perform is probably the happiest motivation on their journey of learning piano! 🥳👧👦
