🎓 𝟰𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱

Every institution is built on more than bricks and mortar.

In her closing address, Ms Margaret Heng, who has devoted over four decades to both SHATEC and the Singapore Hotel Association, reflects on a journey deeply intertwined with the very foundation of the school.

As a mentee of our late founder, Mr Pakir Singh, her words carry not just memory, but meaning - shaped by the values, conviction and spirit he instilled from the very beginning.

What was started decades ago lives on, in every graduate, every lesson, every act of service.

Because legacy is not what we leave behind.
It is what we carry forward.

From doubt to determination, from beginnings to belief.

In her valedictorian speech, Quek Li Ling shares a journey that speaks to many — of choosing to start, to persevere, and to keep going even when the path is uncertain.

Because sometimes, the bravest thing we can do… is not to give up on what we love.

🎓 𝟰𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲: 𝗔 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀

In his message, Mr Daryl Tan reminds us that true impact does not end with a single moment.

It continues — wherever help is needed, whenever it is called for.

This is the spirit that has carried generations of SHATEC students forward.

And it is a promise that lives on.

Some journeys are only possible because someone chose to help.

In this deeply moving tribute, Ms Tan Yu Yu, former Senior Director, Student Administration, reflects on the quiet but powerful impact of the Tan Chay Bing Education Fund — a partnership built not just on support, but on belief.

𝑨𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅:

This citation was prepared and delivered with deepest respect to 𝗠𝗿 𝗗 𝗝 𝗧𝗮𝗻 and Mr Tan Daryl, esteemed donors of the Tan Chay Bing Education Fund.

At the same time, it is also dedicated to the SHATEC Team who held on to the same conviction.

With special mention to:

As the lights dim and the music fades, there is still time to reminisce. We present our 40th Graduation Epilogue - a series where we relive the highlights and special moments of this celebration.

In this first chapter, we return to the voices that set the tone for the day. In his address, Chairman of the SHATEC Board, Mr Loh Lik Peng, reflected on what truly defines this industry - people, purpose and the courage to begin again.

Through the stories of four outstanding graduands, we are reminded that there is no single path into hospitality. Only the conviction to keep going. Because every step taken here was crafted with care and gifted with heart.

Every step tomorrow marks the culmination of years of dedication and the beginning of new journeys in hospitality.

Celebrating 40th Graduation @ Novotel Singapore on Stevens

Sometimes the journey leads us back to the people who walked the path with us.

In the pre-final chapter of our 40th Graduation Prologue, we meet members of the SHATEC Alumni at Novotel Singapore on Stevens — the very venue where the graduating Class of 2025 & 2026 will soon gather to celebrate this milestone.

Set within the tranquil Stevens enclave and known for its contemporary hospitality, Novotel Singapore on Stevens has come on board as the venue host for SHATEC’s 40th Graduation, providing the stage where this important chapter will be marked.

For many alumni, returning to witness the next generation step forward is a powerful reminder that the SHATEC journey does not end at graduation. It continues through the professionals who carry its values into kitchens, hotels and dining rooms across the industry.

Three days from now, our graduands will step onto this very stage..

And in that moment, past and present will meet — a full circle shaped by shared experiences, shared lessons and a shared belief in hospitality.

In the latest chapter of our 40th Graduation Prologue, we follow our full-time diploma trainees during their Industrial Attachment at Marina Bay Sands .

Synonymous with world-class hospitality, Marina Bay Sands is the Principal Partner for SHATEC 40th Graduation.

In this episode, our F&B and hospitality trainees reflect on their internship experience at the iconic integrated resort, share what motivates them in this industry, and express gratitude to the people who have supported them along the way as they prepare for the next chapter of their careers.

Ms. Juliette Lim, Vice President of Talent at Marina Bay Sands and an alumna of SHATEC, also shares a message of encouragement to our graduating Class of 2025 & 2026.

In this chapter of our 40th Graduation Prologue, we hear from SHATEC graduands who are honing their craft at Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, a distinctive hospitality destination within Singapore’s Mandai Wildlife Reserve, and a proud Graduation Partner for our 40th Graduation.

Opened in 2025 and nestled within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, the resort brings together sustainable design, immersive rainforest experiences and the signature Banyan Tree philosophy of thoughtful, heartfelt service. Since its opening, Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree has been an active partner of SHATEC, providing valuable opportunities for our trainees to grow in a truly unique hospitality environment.

The journey of learning does not stop at the classroom - and sometimes, it begins after a full day’s work.

In this latest chapter of our 40th Graduation Prologue, we feature part-time learner, Michael Yonathan Rahardjo from the WSQ Diploma in Food Services (Culinary Arts) who pursued his studies while working full-time at SATS Ltd.

Michael shares the challenges of managing both commitments, the encouragement from his team and supervisors that made the journey possible and how the skills learned at SHATEC have added value to his work in the industry.

This episode closes with a congratulatory message from Mr Alan Guo, Global Head of Reward & HCBP for Food Solutions at SATS Ltd, celebrating the achievements of our graduating Class of 2025 & 2026.
