Babies below 18 months should avoid screen time.
Your child's early years are important and limiting screen time or learning to make screen time more beneficial can help them to develop their communication, motor, and sensory skills.

Mess-making is undeniably good for kids. For most, it is joyful and wildly engaging. Messy play supports the development of their senses, which is critical for learning about the world and brain development. Its freedom and inherently open-ended nature helps build creativity. Getting the go-ahead to make a mess and push boundaries also helps kids build a sense of self. So, how can we be true to our feelings about the less desirable parts of messy play, but still give our kids all of its benefits?
The Value of Messy Play for Kids | Tinkergarten Messy activities for kids support sensory development, which is critical for learning about the world around them, as well as improving their mental capacity.

Children do not come in tidy packages — they come with spontaneity, energy, and delicious individuality. Some have learning challenges that affect them physically, cognitively, emotionally, and/or behaviorally. The good news is that music can help with most of them.
How Music Unlocked My Son's ADHD Brain Traditional learning programs helped my son, who has ADHD and other special needs, concentrate and focus — but nothing helped him as much as music. Whether he was learning an instrument, listening to a classical concerto, or just clapping along to a beat, Brandon found himself and his strengths in...

You may have heard that children don’t form memories until about age 3, but that’s a bit of an oversimplification. According to a pair of leading experts in childhood memory, your 2-year-old may not recall their first spin on the teacups like you will (how could you forget that face?). But they will retain a different, more mysterious kind of memory — one that lasts a lifetime.
At What Age Do Childhood Memories Start? Earlier Than You Might Think And the wild terrain of implicit memory.

What are omega 3’s? Omega 3’s are fatty acids. That probably doesn’t help a whole lot as far as understanding goes. Fatty Acids are essential to cell makeup, which is what your whole body is made up of. They are found in the bloodstream and heart. Also research shows that around 60 percent of the brain is made up of fats and of that 60 percent, 40 percent are linked to fats from omega 3’s. So they are a huge component of the brain.

“I can’t stay off my phone,” wrote CNET’s Ian Sherr last year. “And I’m afraid it’s hurting my 2-year-old son.” Sherr was giving voice to an important new development in the conversation around family screen time. For most of the last several years, as we’ve become more aware of the unintended consequences of allowing technology into every aspect of our lives, the family screen time discussion has mostly centered around screen use by children and teens. And that’s not unimportant. We now know screen use can have negative effects on children’s mental health. We know it’s connected to attention problems, social interaction difficulties and even higher risk of su***de.
We're Now Realizing What Screen Use By Parents Is Doing to Kids, And It's Troubling “It’s not that the mother is absent. It’s that she’s there, but not there.”

As parents and educators, we need to consider the impact this “new normal” is having on our individual children and on society as a whole, especially since we know how important the first three years of life are in children’s development (source). And we need to think about what we can do to support young children, even as they face today’s challenges.

Neuroscientists have known for many years that the brains of men and women are not identical. Men’s brains tend to be more lateralized—that is, the two hemispheres operate more independently during specific mental tasks like speaking or navigating around one’s environment. For the same kinds of tasks, females tend to use both their cerebral hemispheres more equally. Another difference is size: males of all ages tend to have slightly larger brains, on average, than females, even after correcting for differences in body size.
Are there any differences in the development of boys' and girls' brains? Yes, but they are subtle, and a product of both nature and nurture.
