Exploring the future of marine conservation 🌊🐠

Our aquaculture students recently visited Singapore Oceanarium for an immersive industry experience, gaining first-hand insights into one of the region's leading marine research and conservation facilities.

During the visit, students explored career and internship opportunities, learned about the skills required to work in the industry, and discovered the diverse roles that contribute to marine conservation, aquaculture and sustainability.

Visits like these, organised by Student Careers, help students connect classroom learning with industry practice, while gaining a deeper understanding of the rewarding careers that contribute to the future of marine sustainability.

What does success really look like in business? Is it simply about profit, or should it also be measured by the lives we improve and the communities we help build?

In this episode of JCU Conversations, Mr Robin Pho, Managing Director of Energy Transition at Tsao Pao Chee Group and Board Member at Smiling Gecko, shares how his career evolved from banking and oil & gas to renewable energy and social impact. Along the way, together with Dr Caroline Wong, Associate Dean Learning and Teaching, and Associate Professor in Business, he reflects on why businesses should look beyond the bottom line, the importance of purpose alongside profit, and how organisations can create lasting value for both people and the planet.
