📍𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮

Over the past week, both our Singapore and Malaysia MBA cohorts had an intensive 6 days journey of growth, challenge and discovery.

With our very own 𝗠𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗹 𝗢𝗻𝗴, Senior Lecturer of 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 at Alliance Manchester Business School, our part-time MBA students worked together to develop key skillsets such as 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮, 𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲-𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 in complex, real-world environments. They were joined by our Global Executive MBA participants, flying in from across the world, with whom they exchanged ideas from across a diversity of industries, functions and backgrounds.

During the 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 workshop, led by our very own Professor of Organisational Psychology, 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀, students gained deep insights into 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. Beyond theory, the experience was highly reflective and focused on applied learning; enabling participants to 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 and tackle real workplace challenges with proven frameworks.

All in all, an incredible learning journey into the complementary worlds of Finance and Leadership and an opportunity to broaden the skills that are necessary to make a strong and genuine impact in today’s world. Watching our students continue to foster strong relationships while sharpening their skills on their MBA journey has been nothing short of inspiring!

Last night, we were pleased to welcome a mix of prospective students, current students and alumni at our Masterclass on Reflective Leadership. Conducted by our very own Professor Geoff Thomas, Professor of Organisational Psychology at Alliance Manchester Business School, the masterclass focused on a more reflective method attendees could use to facilitate growth in their career.

The session also allowed the attendees to have meaningful discussions about the challenges of leadership and talent management across various industries in Singapore, ultimately leading to a fruitful sharing of experiences.

The launch featured a reception with the President & Vice-Chancellor of The University of Manchester, Professor Duncan Ivison, who underscored the significance of the campaign and reflected on the ongoing contributions of alumni and students. "𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝 is our call to action. The University, our people, and our global community have the scale, expertise, and ambition to face the challenges of our time," Professor Ivison said: "Through this campaign we're inviting everyone to contribute, volunteer, and advocate. Together, we can accelerate discoveries, create opportunities, and drive meaningful impact for society."

Distinguished attendees at the event included H.E. Nikesh Mehta OBE, British High Commissioner to Singapore, who welcomed the University to Eden Hall, and Mr Teo Chee Hean, Senior Advisor in the Prime Minister's Office; Chairman of Temasek Holdings; and Patron of UoM Alumni Association Singapore. Senior alumni such as Mr Desmond Tan, Senior Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), were also present, alongside Nobel Laureate Professor Sir Konstantin Novoselov who was awarded the Nobel Prize for his achievements with graphene at The University of Manchester.

From Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, our Global MBA classrooms were buzzing in October as students engaged in hands-on workshops that brought strategy, operations, and negotiation to life!

⚔️ 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 & 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐀) 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐬
By applying microeconomic principles and game theory, students learned to evaluate strategic positioning, competitor behaviour, and how technology and data shape the modern firm’s competitive advantage.

📢 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐭𝐨𝐧
In this module, students explored how operations and marketing work hand in hand to deliver value to customers. Through case discussions and group projects, they learned to evaluate real business scenarios — from analysing markets and pricing strategies to designing operations and managing supply chains that enhance customer experience.

🤝 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐂𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐳𝐚𝐫
Designed to equip students with a structured approach to negotiation, this module sharpened their ability to plan, strategise, and apply effective tactics across a range of business contexts. Through hands-on practice, they learned to balance the interests of all parties and work toward mutually beneficial outcomes.

We were delighted to host students from our international centres here in Singapore for these workshops. The shared learning and lively networking truly captured the essence of the Manchester Global MBA — practical, globally connected, and designed to prepare professionals for the collaborative challenges of modern leadership!
