At Monday night's Networking in the Age of AI workshop with Andrew Jones, we explored a simple but powerful reality: career opportunities rarely flow through job postings alone. More often, they emerge through conversations, introductions, referrals, and trusted relationships.

As AI, algorithms, and digital platforms increasingly shape how talent is discovered, building visibility and meaningful professional connections has never been more important.

The session challenged participants to think beyond applications and focus on cultivating the relationships that create opportunities, expand influence, and accelerate career growth.

We're proud to celebrate an exciting milestone for the Manchester Worldwide Southeast Asia Centre and Alliance Manchester Business School.

Earlier this year, we became a 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 (𝗦𝗦𝗚) 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗔𝗧𝗢). We are now delighted to have successfully delivered our inaugural SkillsFuture-supported programme, From Idea to Impact: Leveraging IP in Innovation-Driven Markets, held on 23, 24 and 31 July 2026. This marks the start of an exciting new chapter as we expand executive education and lifelong learning opportunities across Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Facilitated by Dr Rex Yeap, participants explored how intellectual property can become a strategic business asset through topics including patent landscaping, IP protection strategies, commercialisation planning and AI-enabled tools for smarter IP decision-making. The programme concluded with a capstone project, where participants applied their learning to real-world organisations.

We were delighted to welcome professionals from diverse industries, including Manchester alumni who returned to upskill and reskill—reinforcing our belief that learning is a lifelong journey.

This is just the beginning. We look forward to expanding our executive education portfolio with programmes in 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, equipping professionals and organisations with the capabilities to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

🎓 Our LinkedIn feeds have been filled with our students' graduation moments in recent weeks.

Behind every graduation photo is a story.

Late nights after work. Weekend lectures. Family commitments. Tight deadlines. Countless cups of coffee. Moments of doubt. And the determination to keep going anyway.

Many of our MBA graduates balanced demanding careers while pursuing their studies, pushing beyond their comfort zones to grow personally and professionally.

Every workshop is more than just another class. It's another milestone in our students' Manchester Global MBA journey.

This month, we celebrated two important moments.

Our 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 completed 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 & 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗕) with Irene Roele, marking the completion of their core units. As they move into their 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 and electives, they'll collaborate with peers across our global centres in Manchester, Shanghai, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore, putting strategy into practice on a truly global stage.

At the same time, we welcomed our 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁, who began their MBA journey with 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, led by Dr lotfi Boulkeroua. From financialisation and corporate governance to sustainability, ethics and the evolving global economy, the workshop challenged students to think critically about the forces shaping business today.

One cohort has reached an important milestone, while another has taken its very first step. Together, they reflect what makes the Manchester Global MBA so special: a global community that learns, challenges and grows together.

Delighted to host Richard Cotton and Stuart Wells for two days of strategic discussions on strengthening collaboration between Alliance Manchester Business School ol Executive Education and The University of Manchester Southeast Asia Centre.

Our conversations centred on how we can contribute to Singapore's SkillsFuture ambitions through executive education, lifelong learning, and flexible pathways that enable professionals to continuously develop the capabilities needed in a rapidly evolving economy.

We also explored opportunities to deepen business engagement in creating stronger connections between industry needs and world-class learning experiences while building a sustainable regional platform to expand the University's impact across Singapore and Southeast Asia.

As technological, economic, and societal change continues to accelerate, lifelong learning has become a strategic necessity rather than a personal choice. Welcoming the Next Generation of The University of Manchester's Global Graduates to Singapore.

We are delighted to host a group of global undergraduates from diverse disciplines here in Singapore this week. The programme kicked off with insightful sharing sessions.

Brian Frissyn and Christine Kartika from Manchester Worldwide (S.E. Asia) began by sharing insights on living and working in Singapore, covering career opportunities and navigating an international professional journey.

We had the privilege of hearing from our International Ambassador, Hian Seng Tang, and Alumnus, Poh Kiat Chan who reflected on their Manchester experiences, the lasting impact these have had on their careers, and offered invaluable career advice to the visiting students as they prepare for their own global pathways.

We appreciate the enthusiastic questions from the students, which were thoughtfully addressed by Brian, Hian Seng and Poh Kiat.

Misui Elizabeth Hayashi, MBA, LLM from AMBSAAS: Alliance Manchester Business School Alumni Association Singapore (Alliance Manchester Business School - APAC Alumni) hosted the group for dinner at Lau Pa Sat, followed by visits to Marina Bay Sands and Merlion Park.

What truly makes this experience special is the strength of our alumni network. It is always heartening to see the Manchester community come together across borders - supporting, mentoring and opening doors for the next generation of graduates to thrive on a global stage.

Two Locations. Diverse Cohorts. One shared transformation journey.

📍𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮

Over the past week, both our Singapore and Malaysia MBA cohorts had an intensive 6 days journey of growth, challenge and discovery.

With our very own 𝗠𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗹 𝗢𝗻𝗴, Senior Lecturer of 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 at Alliance Manchester Business School, our part-time MBA students worked together to develop key skillsets such as 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮, 𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲-𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 in complex, real-world environments. They were joined by our Global Executive MBA participants, flying in from across the world, with whom they exchanged ideas from across a diversity of industries, functions and backgrounds.

During the 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 workshop, led by our very own Professor of Organisational Psychology, 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀, students gained deep insights into 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. Beyond theory, the experience was highly reflective and focused on applied learning; enabling participants to 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 and tackle real workplace challenges with proven frameworks.

All in all, an incredible learning journey into the complementary worlds of Finance and Leadership and an opportunity to broaden the skills that are necessary to make a strong and genuine impact in today’s world. Watching our students continue to foster strong relationships while sharpening their skills on their MBA journey has been nothing short of inspiring!
