Hi GL fam! Welcome back to the new semester.
Over the past week, GL Club launched and participated in a number of activities. We were a part of the first ever E-Student Life Fair, where we offered advice to and chatted with potential majors about anything and everything about Global Studies. We also successfully hosted our first webinar titled "Careers in a Globalised World", where our panellists consisting of GL profs and seniors discussed their experiences and challenges working and interning abroad, and the relevance of GL as a major in a career overseas.
Week 1 also saw the launch of our GL Buddy initiative! This programme was designed with the online semester in mind, for students to build more connections within the community as well as make the semester a little more exciting with fun challenges and attractive prizes! Sign-ups are closing really soon so don't wait any longer!
Lastly, we are recruiting! If you are interested in creating new experiences and getting involved in the GL community, join our pro-academic, welfare and publicity sub-committees as well as our Community Service Project. We hope to see you soon!

Hey everyone, on this weekโs Humans of GL, we feature Atikah and Tim, who are both in-charges of GL FOC 2020!
Timothy:
Hey friends! I'm Timothy (the hansum lad in the pic) and I'm the PD for this year's GL FOC 2020!
I chose GL precisely because of its multi-disciplinary nature. Fun fact is that I now know why the third language requirement in GL was scrapped because I absolutely regret taking Korean 1 now.
Camp 2020 will be absolutely amazeballs. Not convinced? Fite me , just drop me a dm and I'll tell you what roles you can play and how you can benefit from camp.
I have big plans for Camp 2020, and a routemap to get there. But I need your help to do so. We have good people in our team already, but we want you in as well to make it even better.
Atikah:
Hey everyone! The nameโs atikah and I am the Special Projects (Freshmen) Director of Global Studies Club. I was previously the Project Director for Global Studies Camp 2019. The experience was tough yet worthwhile. I really enjoyed my leadership experience as I was able to see genuine friendships form between my freshies, as well as hone new leaders like Timothy to be the current PD for GL Camp 2020. Hope to see you guys next summer!

Hello everyone! This AY, the GL Club presents to you Humans of GL, an intiative which aims to let GL majors and professors get to know each other better! Keep a lookout on this space, you might see your friends featured ๐ Drop us a message if you have anything interesting to share, weโre looking forward to your stories!
This week, we feature Dr Watkins, a Professor in the department of Political Science and also the mentor for Global Studies Club.
"I joined the Global Studies Programme in 2018.
My GL1011e Global Issues module introduces students to Global Studies, examining varying aspects of globalisation. In my GL4101 Research in Global Issues module, students learn how to design policy-relevant research, building toward my GL4102 Task Force module where students implement research projects.
I also instruct GL4886A Citizenship and the Politics of Belonging which analyses issues surrounding citizenship and immigration, GL4882B Contested Globalisation which explores the politics of economic globalisation, and starting in 2020, GL4886 International Refugee Regime examining the global governance of displacement.
My research centers on border security and asylum policy."
