PRAXIS 3.5 INVITATION by Mendaki for all students - Pls register asap. Closing date: 6 Jan 14.
1) On 17 Sep 2010, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, then Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, announced the launching of PRAXIS, a collaborative project by Mendaki Club and Young AMP to engage young people. It aims to instill greater social and community consciousness, as well as cultivate critical and creative thinking on core issues of the day. In the long term, PRAXIS aspires to develop a network of socially-conscious and empowered youths who can contribute to the community, nation and the wider world.
2) We are pleased to attach information on a follow-up programme to the recent PRAXIS 3.0 that was held earlier in June, which some of your students were a participant of. Further details are found in the PRAXIS Website: praxis.launchrock.com. The programme, termed as PRAXIS 3.5, aims to reconnect youths to community based issues that they are passionate about while guiding them to developing these ideas into concrete action plans. The programme will consist of a 2D1N residential workshop from 11 to 12 January 2014 as well as 2 follow-up sessions on 18 and 25 January respectively.
3) Based on the slogan “From Ideas to Actions”, we hope to provide an avenue for passionate youths to develop their ideas into feasible action plans. Participants can look forward to being guided in refining their ideas, the opportunity to meet mentors and social entrepreneurs and even a platform to pitch for funding!
4) We would thus like to invite your esteemed institution to nominate students to participate in this program. As there are limited spaces and the program is fully subsidised by the organisers, we would appreciate it if you could preferably select students who demonstrate a keen personal interest in social and community issues are willing to commit to the PRAXIS program.
5) To register for the program, students are required to log on to praxis.launchrock.com and fill up the form accordingly. Also, registration could be sent using the enclosed excel sheet. Once the participants have been confirmed, they will be notified on the preparation required for the program. The closing date for registration is Monday, 6 January 2014.
6) We look forward to your students’ participation in this program. For further information, please contact
