Reaction, Coordination, Mobility, Agility, Flexibility, Speed & Rhythm, are all fundamental sporting qualities that define athletic ability.
Many a times, people tend to associate Olympic weightlifting with purely strength due to its categorization as a strength sport.
However, they fail to notice that you cannot drive a weight off the floor & catch it without adding speed into the equation to generate power for momentum, to overcome inertia of a stationary weight.
Lastly, many fail to experience & acknowledge that to generate power & execute the lifting movement efficiently, you need the 7 fundamental sporting abilities listed above to bring out the drilled movement.
Olympic weightlifting is a sports & an art that requires constant drilling, relaxation & aggression ! Thank you for coaching me to greater improvements & for the push !

Lower back injuries & discomfort series
Part 3
Feeling tight & stiff at the calves, running up to the hamstrings & sometimes the power back despite all the calves & hamstring stretches ?
Try this kneeling stretch for the front shin muscles, also known as the Tibialis Anterior. You might be surprised at how much relief you will get at the lower back, hamstrings & ankle !
Though this stretch isn’t one that is directly targeted at lower back pains & reliefs compared to the hip stretches in my 2 earlier posts, it’s has an indirect relation pertaining to the nerves that runs down the spine & along the back of the lower body.
If you are feeling extremely tight & stiff, you don’t need a lift the knees off the floor like I did ! Just keep the knees down & the weight directed on the ankles.
Additionally, extreme stiffness is also a possible sign of insufficient calcium & magnesium levels. Hence I always ensure that my daily calcium & magnesium nutritional intakes are on point !

Try this drill, No Drive Sn**ch. Learnt it from & as you can see here, he’s coaching me to perfect the technique & movement during training.
Trust me, you will really feel the activation + stretching/lengthening tension at your “Wings” !

Part 2
Here’s another hip stretch, that I highly recommend you should be doing for lower back stiffness & pain relief.
In fact, this is one of the main muscle groups that impacts with the lower spine (Lumbar Spinal) region ! * Aim to perform this stretch 3-4 times a week
* Hold each stretch held for 3-5 minutes
* Gradually progress/lengthen the stretch in a relaxed manner
