A beautiful reflection by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales following her visit to Reggio Emilia.
“Childhood can be understood as the state in which we come closest to our true selves.”
These words resonate deeply with what we continue to explore and advocate for at REACH: children as citizens, relationships as the foundation of learning, and environments that invite wonder, nature, creativity and connection.
Pictured here at Allende Pre-School with Stefano, the atelierista who also visited us in Singapore, is a lovely reminder of how ideas, people and encounters travel across contexts while remaining rooted in deep respect for children and their many languages.

For educators, pedagogists and school leaders, the work of early childhood education is never only about what children learn, but how we listen, observe, respond and create the conditions for learning to unfold.
The Reggio Emilia Approach invites us to return to these deeper questions:
How do we listen to children more carefully?
How do environments shape relationships and learning?
How do documentation and dialogue help us understand children’s thinking?
How do schools become communities of research, reflection, and participation?
The REACH Reggio Emilia Conference in Singapore 2026 offers two days of professional exchange with educators from Reggio Emilia and peers from across the region.
Early bird registration ends 31 July 2026.

REACH is honoured to join Reggio Children and the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing for The Wonder of Learning, an event dedicated to the educational experience of the Municipal Infant-Toddler Centres and Preschools of Reggio Emilia.
The gathering will also provide an opportunity to introduce Shoe and Meter (鞋子与尺子), the first Reggio Children publication translated into Chinese by REACH, marking an important step in making Reggio Emilia’s pedagogical thinking more accessible to Chinese-speaking educators.
We look forward to an inspiring afternoon of dialogue, reflection, and exchange around children's learning and the values of the Reggio Emilia Approach.

As a closing moment to such an intense and inspiring week, we had the pleasure of experiencing a clay atelier imagined and designed by Mirella Ruozzi from Reggio Children, who joined us online to help shape the foundations of the experience.
On Saturday, we welcomed a community of educators and leaders to come together through an atelier dedicated to exploring clay and other expressive languages. Joining virtually, Mirella shared provocations and reflections connected to clay, light, sculpture, nature, and paper, inviting participants into a process of experimentation and research. Supported by Marina Castagnetti, participants worked in small groups, with each atelier engaging with the materials through different questions, processes, and interpretations.
Documentation and confronto became an essential part of the experience, opening spaces for collective reflection, dialogue, and analysis. Through clay and other languages, materials became a medium for thinking together, communicating ideas, and constructing shared meaning.

Setting up of the environment became an important part of the pedagogical process. Materials, documentation, and the indoor-outdoor environment were thoughtfully prepared to invite exploration, interaction, and meaning-making.
As the children encountered the space, their gestures, expressions, and interactions became part of an ongoing process of interpretation and reflection. After each meaningful session, Marina and the educators sat together to reflect on the documentation, making visible the progression and evolution of the work. Educators from various Reggio-inspired preschools were also invited to join these sharings, creating opportunities for collective dialogue, reflection, and learning through the exchange of perspectives and experiences.
