Over 10 therapy days, children have increased opportunities to practise emerging movement skills and work towards goals such as:

Every child starts from a different place, which is why there is no one-size-fits-all MOVE programme.

Following assessment and goal setting, our OT and PT team develops an individualised intensive plan that may incorporate DMI, Spider Cage / Universal Exercise Unit, strengthening, reflex integration and functional movement practice according to your child's needs.

KidsFirst is offering a limited number of FREE 30-minute Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) trialswith our Physiotherapy team. 💛

DMI is a hands-on therapeutic approach that uses targeted exercises to encourage active movement and support the development of strength, postural control, balance, motor transitions and functional movement skills.

It’s a great opportunity to meet our PT team, experience DMI and learn whether this approach may be appropriate for your child’s individual movement goals.

Targeting specific muscle groups when you have a neurological condition or recent injury can be tough especially when gravity and compensations get in the way. That is where the Universal Exercise Unit (UEU) makes all the difference!

In this video, our therapist demonstrates how we use the UEU’s pulley and suspension system to isolate and strengthen the glute muscles.

Why the UEU is a game-changer for lower limb strengthening:

Eliminates Compensations: By supporting the body, the UEU prevents stronger muscles from taking over, ensuring the targeted lower limb muscles do the actual work.

Gravity-Eliminated or Resisted Loading: We can unload a limb to train early active movement, or add precise resistance using pulleys and weights to build pure strength.

Isolates Weak Muscle Groups: Perfect for reactivating underactive glutes, hamstrings, or quads across a full, controlled range of motion.

Safe, Dynamic Support: Provides stability so patients can focus 100% on proper form and motor control without fear of falling.

Building strong, active glutes is essential for pelvic stability, gait mechanics, and pain-free movement.

🌱 Learning starts long before school.

Before children learn to read, write or sit in a classroom, they’re already developing important foundations that help them engage, connect and learn.

As part of our KidsFirst Open House Week, we’re offering a limited number of FREE READY TO LEARN: Early Foundations Checks for children aged 2–4 years.

During this complimentary 20–25 minute check, we’ll explore:

💛 Managing Big Feelings
How your child responds to frustration, waiting and small changes.

🤝 Connecting & Engaging
Early skills such as joint attention, imitation and back-and-forth interaction.

💬 Understanding & Communicating Feelings
How your child expresses emotional needs and begins to recognise feelings.

Parents will receive brief feedback on their child’s strengths and emerging skills, plus 1–2 practical strategies to try at home and recommendations for next steps, where appropriate.

No diagnosis is required.

Big news in the clinic—our new Spidercage belt has officially arrived for the Universal Exercise Unit (UEU), and we can’t wait to get our kiddos strapped in and moving! 🕷️✨

The Spidercage is an absolute game-changer for pediatric physical and occupational therapy. By using a system of dynamic bungee cords attached to the belt, we can provide just the right amount of support to help kids experience movement safely and independently.

Why we love Spidercage activities:

Targeted Balance & Core Stability: It challenges postural control while safely catching kids before they fall, giving them the confidence to test their limits.

Partial Weight-Bearing: Bungees can offload body weight, making it easier for children to practice standing, squatting, jumping, and stepping without fatigue.

Enhanced Body Awareness: The dynamic resistance provides rich proprioceptive feedback, helping children map out where their body is in space.
