Connecting with our teenagers isn’t always about big gestures—sometimes, it starts with learning to speak the same language.
This morning, our GYSS parents came together for a heartwarming 5 Love Languages workshop, organised and facilitated by our very own Parent Support Group (PSG)!
From lively bingo activities to meaningful conversations about quality time, words of affirmation and building stronger relationships, the morning was filled with laughter, shared experiences and thoughtful takeaways. 💬❤️
More than a workshop, it was a wonderful reminder of the important partnership between home and school in helping our young people feel supported, understood and empowered to grow.

From remembering our past to celebrating how far we have come, our National Day Celebration 2026 was a meaningful reminder of what it means to call Singapore home. ❤️🤍
The day began with a lockdown and evacuation drill—a timely reminder that the safety and security we enjoy should never be taken for granted.
The celebrations then came alive with our SG61 Competition Finals! 🌟 Our finalists took us through Singapore’s journey—from overcoming the challenges of our early years, building unity and resilience, to imagining the Singapore of tomorrow. Through their artefacts and presentations, students reflected on the milestones that have shaped our nation and considered the part each of us can play in shaping its future.
And no National Day celebration would be complete without music! 🎶 Our hall came alive as the GY family sang our hearts out, united in voice, while our school band brought the celebration to another level with a medley of National Day favourites. 🇸🇬🎺
Through remembering, reflecting and celebrating together, we nurture Thinkers who understand our journey, Leaders who value what we have built, and Advocates ready to contribute to Singapore’s next chapter.
Happy 61st Birthday, Singapore! 🇸🇬❤️

Our Secondary 2 GYSSians stepped beyond the classroom and into Singapore’s story through Artefactually Speaking at the National Museum of Singapore.
Working together as young historians, students explored artefacts, asked thoughtful questions, and pieced together the stories of the people and communities that have shaped our nation. Along the way, they developed Critical & Inventive Thinking as they analysed historical evidence from different perspectives and made meaningful connections between the past and the present.
More than a history lesson, the experience strengthened their appreciation of Singapore’s rich heritage, multicultural identity, and shared values—deepening their Civic Literacy and sense of belonging as Singaporeans.
At GYSS, learning goes beyond the classroom. Through authentic experiences like these, we continue to nurture Thinkers who question with curiosity, Leaders who appreciate diverse perspectives, and Advocates who are inspired to shape Singapore’s future together. 🇸🇬

Our refurbished school field is officially open! 🎉
To celebrate this exciting milestone, our Principal, Miss Tan, joined our Football boys for a commemorative kickabout, officially bringing our new field to life. The celebration continued with a friendly exhibition match as students took to their new home ground for the very first time. ⚽
More than just a place to play, this field is where friendships will grow, teamwork will flourish, and lasting memories will be made. It is a shared space that will inspire our students to learn, lead, and grow together—both on and off the pitch.
As we enjoy this wonderful new space, let’s all play our part in caring for it so that it can continue to serve generations of Guangyang students to come.
Here’s to many more moments of learning, teamwork, and joy on our new field! 💙💛

What a journey it has been! 🚀
Against all odds, our students rose to the challenge at the National Youth Tech Championship (NYTC) 2026, Jointly organised by Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore and Google in partnership with SIT, finishing among the Top 8 out of more than 60 secondary schools across Singapore! 🏆
Behind this achievement were months of learning, perseverance, and teamwork. From exploring AI and Python programming to tackling complex challenges together, our students embraced every opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow. Their resilience and determination are a true reflection of what it means to be lifelong Learners and confident Thinkers.
A huge shout-out to our incredible supporters, whose cheers and encouragement lifted Team GYSS every step of the way! 🎉 Your school spirit also earned us 3rd Place in the Cheering Competition—a testament to the strength of our GY family.
Thank you to our dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and everyone who believed in our students throughout this journey.
Congratulations, Team GYSS! This achievement is more than a competition result—it marks the beginning of many more exciting journeys in computing, innovation, and discovery. 🌟

Sweating Together, Growing Stronger.
Last Friday, our Secondary 4 cohort embarked on the symbolic GRIT Walk, marking the final milestone of their four to five-year journey at Guangyang Secondary School.
From Tanjong Rhu MRT Station to Marina East Park, students and teachers walked side by side—reflecting on how far they have come, celebrating the friendships they’ve built, and creating one last shared memory before the National Examinations. Even the morning heat couldn’t dampen their spirits!
The journey concluded with a class picnic at Gardens by the Bay , where laughter, heartfelt conversations, and well-deserved ice cream 🍦 marked the perfect end to a memorable morning. Surrounded by nature and one another, our students were reminded that every challenge is made lighter when faced together as the GY family.
To our Sec 4s, this walk is more than a tradition—it is a celebration of your resilience, growth, and the bonds you’ve forged along the way. As you enter this final stretch, carry forward the Grit, courage, and determination that define the
Guangyang spirit.
You’ve got the GRIT to go the distance. Finish strong—we’re cheering you on

Our inaugural Service Learning Day, or Guangyang Ripple, seeks to develop our students’ civic literacy and give them a platform to practise leadership competencies while serving the community.
Our students organised carnival games, planned activities for seniors at external centres, and chose causes that they were passionate about to serve. We are proud to say that our Guangyang students took on the challenge to adapt to ambiguous situations, communicate and collaborate effectively, and most importantly, to serve others wholeheartedly.

As the first rays of sunlight broke across the horizon, our Sec 3 student leaders completed an 8km sunrise walk from Changi Village to Pasir Ris Park as part of their Student Leadership Camp.
More than a physical journey, this annual experience is designed to challenge, bond, and inspire. Through every step, our students demonstrated perseverance, resilience, and teamwork—qualities that define meaningful leadership.
The sunrise held a special significance for our Guangyang family. Our school crest embodies the aspiration for students to illuminate the world with their radiance, just like the dawn of a rising sun over the vast ocean—the very meaning of 光洋. As our students watched the sun emerge over the horizon, they were reminded of the light they carry within them and the positive impact they can have on others.
As they continue to grow as Thinkers, Leaders, and Advocates, may they remember that leadership is not measured by a destination reached, but by the courage, character, and purpose shown along the journey.
🌟 Like the rising sun, may they continue to shine brightly and illuminate the world around them.
