Biography

I am a Yoga teacher/personal trainer/instructor based in Singapore with 10 years of experience in the fitness and yoga industry ranging from spinning, weights training and various type of yoga discipline. Other than Relaxing the neck…
Here’s a real time demo of ribs traction. It’s also one of the few or many poses that I would do to warm down the back/spine after a #backbend practice. Do it slooooowly to feel ribs lengthen away from the pelvis. This is part of the warm down sequence from backbend. Whilst you are in it notice how the rib cage muscles traction forward (pull forward) without moving the hips forward. This is also how we educate the ribs to extend to free this area. This can be extremely challenging for many as these areas hold so much tensions habitually. Relax the neck, by doing so it’s likely for the ribs to relax and traction for space in the area. This can be done in prone position (belly down) or standing up against the wall or without.
.
Learning how to free the rib cage brings so much joy and freedom to the lungs. 🫁 Therefore, improving our lung capacity and health.

Go for space, ditch tensions. You’ve got this! 🙌🏻

Hello handstand.
Be it a regular practice or once in a while. I often depend on upside down poses to give me a breath of fresh air, to relieve my spine in an energetic way, to energise my body/system and a clarity of the mind. 🤸🏻‍♀️

May your brand new week be fun and clear in your path for whatever that you have set your intention on. You’ve got this! 💪🏻

Holidays and festive seasons can be hard for some of us. I used to feel about that I no longer fit in to these special seasons as it brought back so much memories.

Looking back on how far we have come. We have all grown especially for my girls. Life may not be a bed of roses everyday, somehow we have learnt how to go about it our own ways and we are so proud of that we got through these seasons year after year with different experiences and joy. Time heals and so will you.

In this season, I have so much to be grateful and thankful for. The unwavering support from my family, my faith, my pillar of strength no matter what the situations that I (we) have encountered, it can be a FaceTime away. Things will find its own way and get sorted out before you know it. Believe in God’s timing.

I have learnt to live each day with pride and joy. Happiness comes by loving myself first. Going easy with myself takes practice as putting others before me was a norm. Giving was the only thing that I do. The moments when I spent on and off my yoga mat was a sacred moment to give back to myself richly and generously. Allow yourself and practise to let go of what no longer serves you. Recognising your self worth is your responsibility and priority so your heart is full and big enough to accommodate others in your life and what’s to come.
Life is beautiful when you see it from a place with peace and contentment. I’m still counting my blessings.

I wish you well, peace and happiness always. Make room for yourself and every day counts. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Love, Yvonne.

Sometimes the only way to survive is to strive for your life, to carve out a way to live. Holding onto the hope that there is a way out, and there is. When we were left with no choice, stuck at life situations and hopelessness filled our minds, it is when we truly understand what striving-for-your-life means.

When we are stuck, struggling, dire and despair. See that it is an opportunity for us to grow, to survive and and to live in order to get out of this situation or be in a place where we see light. Along the journey taking lots of trial and error, processing it along the way. They are all great learning experiences that we wouldn’t want to miss in life.

During yoga practices, it meant to observe your breathing, mind, reactions, thoughts and emotions to these situations. Where in the first place It’s not meant to break you, but to uncover your inner potentials. It’s not also meant to showcase our abilities of how strong and capable we are with some challenging poses but being humble and open to these experiences. This to me is to practise the essence of yoga and to see the beauty and the intentions of the practice. I have come to practise yoga to build physical strength and relieve stress. Not knowing the learning goes on to build a sanctuary for me see life with a different eye and perspective.

Choose life and never again feel despair.
The teaching goes on around this topic and intent for the third week. See you in class.

Getting inverted is one of the things that our bodies needed in the …

When we practise . We become aware of our breaths…we feel the need to elevate ourselves and the desire to feel lighter and free. I did inversions from time to time to shake up stale emotions and energy in my body. In turn, it got me into the ecstatic state with happy hormones and clarity.

Have you played with inversions lately? 🧘🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️

Binding but not stuck.

Crossing the arm over thigh is a form of binding in yoga practice. It involves twisting, it requires deeper breathing and it also requires some survival instincts too.

*Physically*
I love it for the reasons it allows me to go deeper into the pose that stretches my rib cage, opens up my shoulders and releases the entire spine. When the spine alone is not able to go deeper, a form of binding (as the picture shown) can get us deeper into it.
The effects:
• relieving aches and pain in our bodies.
• keeping us focused on breath flow.
• improving blood and breath circulation.
• massages the internal organs and improves our digestive system
• strengthens our lung capacity and exercises the rib cage muscles.
• keeping our skins supple and youthful.
• the list goes on.

*Mentally and Emotionally*
It’s a work of freeing up ourselves mentally and emotionally in the face of struggles and challenges.
We were often stuck with our thinking and perspectives. We were confined by certain beliefs and opinions that leads us to no where and caused us stuck in a situation. We thought the only way to handle a challenging situation was based on our knowledge to resolve certain problems, issues and handling relationships. We are not breathing properly and our minds become distracted. Stay calm and steady for yourself. Unfortunately, I’m not here to resolve your problems. I’m here to guide you to breathe for yourself so that the mind has the clarity to make sense with our actions and choices we made in the practice. This oftentimes reflected on our lives. I have come to realise it’s not the challenges that we faced was the issue. It’s HOW we see it and deal with it. The greater the challenge is, the more resilient we become, the more we want to break free from struggle. This is also one of our human instincts…we can do it with ease and grace.

Our constantly reminding us to breathe deeply consciously and continuously. When breath is present. It opens up the pathway for deeper connections and make wiser decisions and choices. You will find a way and there’s always a way that’s easier, less painful and struggle.

We are into our second week of this practice and learning. As I was coaching this, i got more excited about it. I saw my students started to change in their practice with less struggles, less forces and pressures upon themselves and turn that into a pleasurable experience. We are re-educating our mental system and physical bodies to receive new informations one breath at a time. Come on the mat and practise together again. Oh yes, a gentle reminder. We bring this practice (experience) on too!
