Being the only course of its kind in Singapore, the Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations (APR) boasts not only a variety of modules, but also partnerships with big names and renowned brands in the industry. 🤝
Throughout their first two years, APR students build up their experience in creating real-life campaigns, which are then put into practice in their final-year capstone project by producing a complete campaign from scratch. ✍️

Having been a lecturer in FMS since 2008, Mr Bernard Ho has taught countless batches of Advertising and Public Relations (APR) students. With a friendly demeanour that makes it easy for students to approach him with any questions they have, he even has a nickname within the school: Uncle Bernard.😆
Seeing the last batch of APR students graduate was bittersweet for him but the students have made him proud with their growth.
“I’m very proud of their achievements and learning journey. I’ve been there since day one and everyone was a blank slate but there was so much potential. To see the potential being realized at the end of three years, I think that’s the biggest satisfaction.”
- Mr Bernard Ho, Advertising & Public Relations Lecturer

"I had the opportunity to meet many unique and interesting people throughout my 3 years in Film, Sound and Video (FSV). There weren’t many chances to be working solo in FSV, so most of the time, we would be put into different groups to work on projects. Some of us went through thick and thin together, meeting almost every day until we were (almost) tired of seeing each other.
A highlight in my FMS experience was when we had our FMS Korea Study Trip🇰🇷 in 2019, where some of us visited Korea to experience its media industry. It was a trip rich with experiences, from visiting the Korean Film Archives, where they preserved many historic films through the years to touring Hansung University, where we attended classes like local students. The best part was we got to meet different people and bond with people we already knew.
If I were to describe my FMS experience in a word, it would be – unpredictable. Life in FMS isn’t smooth all the time and there’re a lot of things that might not go your way; talents pulling out, or locations not being as we like it. Often we don’t know who we may end up working with. I like it because it keeps you wondering what might happen next and it doesn’t become repetitive and boring. FMS is full of creative individuals 🖌who constantly challenge ourselves to make projects that reflect our personalities and visions.
Although we sacrifice a lot of our time on certain projects and sometimes they don’t go our way, there are still learning experiences that we benefit from. We are still forever missing sleep due to this unpredictability but as long as we don’t lose our way and give up, we will be able to bounce back stronger and better from our mistakes.💫"

The media industry is every Mass Communication (MCM) student’s oyster, as these aspiring media practitioners get to learn the ropes of every facet of this sprawling field during their three-year stint in NP. Advertising, design, journalism, radio, video production - you name it, they’ve learnt it.
Besides working on assignments using the school’s state-of-the-art facilities, students also get the opportunity to work with renowned clients like Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) and Spinnup Asia for their projects. Plus, a full suite of top media companies are available to students during their final year so they can hone their skills in the industry even before graduation.🎓

"If I were to use one word to summate my FMS experience, I’d say it was a simply FITTING experience... I have come full circle. I began my formal work journey as a teacher in a secondary school and ended it lecturing in the School of Film & Media Studies.
I started my journey believing in the power of a teacher to shape positive values in young people and that belief remains strong.
To the current and future batches of FMS students, dream on and pursue your dreams (it's perfectly fine to have more than one). But in the course of achieving your dream(s), do not neglect those you love and who love you or cast aside those you have yet to know.💜
"Let love be your guide for every encounter and experience."
- Mrs Sng-Fun Poh Yoke, Former Mass Communication Lecturer
