An old social dancing clip with Alex C at Marina Bay Sands at Swing the Night Away organized by Where to Lindy Hop in Singapore, encapsulating all the reasons why I love jazz as dance and music - jazz as dance music. And a perfect clip to celebrate International Dance Day (29 Apr) and International Jazz Day (30 Apr)!

I love this capture of a move I tried leading for the first time with Zan. You can see that in the first time around, there was a slight glitch, and it shows on both our faces, realizing that tricky bit in the move. The I moved into a holding pattern to process what went wrong and I said “again”, doing much better the second time around after we both thought through what needed to be re-worked.
I love impromptu moments captured on video because they reveal so much more of the processed behind things, which in our society of the spectacle screens out. I think we can only move forward when we examine processes, not products. Thoughts?

A year ago, we organized Easy Does It, where we had swing by our shores to teach some classes, and Amanda Lee Swingtet playing for the party shown here
Jazz was popular music back in the Swing Era because it was dance music and our mission at Jazz Inc is to promote both the dance and the music (played live for you cause that’s when you enjoy jazz the best!) through classes, lectures, and live music parties
Swing by for our next edition on Valentine’s Day, with a Nat King Cole special by the and as always a taster class beforehand. It’s a tea dance so it won’t disturb your lunch or dinner plans and it’s a family friendly time and event! No partner needed!
We also have partner and solo studio classes starting in March if you can’t make the event or are keen for more sustained learning

last year where I got to be temporary bandleader and intermediary to the dancers at the musicality for dancers class. For me, the relationship between the music and movement is so crucial, I see it as a responsibility to bridge that gap both as a bandleader and dance instructor
Swing by for our intermediate solo and partner classes every Wednesday where we work on the music and the movement
